I just got a peek at the national champ signage in Memorial Stadium. They put it up around 10 this morning, head of maintenance didn't even know they were doing it lol. I don't want to post it, because I don't want to spoil anyone watching the unveiling.

-Marsh goes top-7 in the draft and the only WR taken above him is Jeremiah Smith. I’ll one-up Old Friend and say Carter Smith (as a guard), Becker, and Tobi get us to at least 4 first rounders. -Hoover is within ~25 yards of Fernando’s rushing total from 2025 at the end of the season. -Beebe leads the RB room in carries/yards, Turbo is close behind, and Khobie once again is 3rd. 2 of the 3 return for 27-28. -We score more points per game (41.6) and give up fewer (11.7) than 2025. -Not measurable, but Byron Baldwin is impossible to leave off the field and will be considered the most talented player on the roster going into 27-28. Similarly, Jacob Savage gets put on the Rolijah Hardy trajectory and Davion Chandler primes himself for a JR-year breakout. -Last but not least…we meet Miami again in Vegas and blow them out to repeat.

I like that Cig is so low key most of the time. Vs someone who screams all practice like a Kirby. Gives me hope he keeps coaching a long time since it doesn’t appear too exhausting for him.

Are Pope-mobile's allowed on sidelines? I don't envy any security or police that have to deal with that.

I like the transfer players giving perspective. They seem to really like the intentional shorter practices. I listened to the media interviews of the players yesterday and either carter or jones mentioned that one thing that is sometimes hard for incoming players is understanding that you have to go full out 100% of practice because it's short. Tyrique talked about the heat and pushing through in those tough short practices. Great article. Cig has a well-oiled machine running at IU.

He is the player no one sees coming and the beneficiary of the attention paid to Becker and Marsh 4) Elijah Hardy leads the Big Ten in tackles 5) Mario Landino leads the Big Ten in sacks.....mostly because, like Kamara, Osunsamni demands constant double teams, as does Tyreke Tucker 6) Indiana will have 2 players in the top 10 in the Heisman conversation. 7) Tyler Cherry shows why he will be the QB in 2027 8) Indiana will once again play in the Rose Bowl and Paul Feinbaum will actually, physically shake while picking against us again.

I read that last one as Zach Osterman leading the team and now I’m worried I’ve officially lost it.

Yeah, I feel sad seeing this. IMO, there's no NBA market for VO and the letter comes off as a desperate move by a guy who had bad injury luck and regrets passing on some amazing contracts betting on himself. It's really unfortunate and obviously has to be tough to accept. I just hope he finds his path in the basketball world once he comes to grips with his playing days being in the rearview.

I know how I feel about this: It is a bad idea and it could turn off some teams that might potentially otherwise be interested. NBA teams want to win and they are looking to find players that can contribute. If that is VO then between his resume, his agents, and his healthy time last season in the G League he was already on their radar. What they don’t want is a role player that writes pleading public letters.

I think things will be hopping around here starting on Saturday.

Tonight is the Draft. We are at 14 teams currently with 2 spots still remaining. I have decided to cap the teams at 16, but will consider increasing it back to 18 if for some reason there is an overwhelming response in the next few hours but I'm not anticipating the need for that at this time. Hmm… imo that’s a little harsh. For as bad as they’ve been for a long time, Nebraska fans are pretty impressive. Our game there will be tough. They remind me of IUBB fans.

I'll be at the Rutger/IUFB game for the same reasons, except that Rutgerseses reputation for disinterest is true.

Hot Takes Tyler Morris leads the team in receptions. Khobie Martin is the lead RB, clearly ahead of Turbo. Barker is the starting TE, not Schott. Grant Wilson is pressed into action and plays extremely well. Zachman leads the team in interceptions and is generally fantastic.

Maybe not bold, but Hoover throws for more yards than Mendoza did last year. More of a hot take than a bold one, but Becker doesn't end up being quite as productive as many expect this year. The rest of the receiving corps makes it a nonissue though. We lead CFB in takeaways.

I'm not sure things are so bad drastic measures are needed. College sports have always had drama. Right now the legal cases are annoying, inconsistent, and messy. But TV ratings and attendance are great. Once the season starts it's awesome. While some players don't take classes, most do and almost all players interact with the students and campus. Also athletic depts have hardly any effect on the rest of the school. Even the poorly run ADs with deficits aren't any sort of material issue to the broader school financial picture. I worry about the implications of decoupling the revenue sports. If the fans feel their players are not college students like they were... they will lose interest quickly. And "college" teams owned by the usual type of pro sports owners/investors sounds unappealing to me as they will push things to be more NBA/NFL-like, which I really don't want. I think we're eventually (five or more years out) going to see players become employees of the conferences with some sort of collective bargaining. But who knows.

The thing about arm pits is that most people have 2. Indiana does as well.

I can't believe you would say that about these student-athletes. Just because most spent a ton of time working on their game, do just enough in school to stay eligible, don't mingle much with the other students, and make a ton of money playing their sport. If they were to be be regarded as semi-professional or even fully professional so much of the above would change, like the doing just enough to stay eligible would go away.

Lawrence Frank -- the team president -- was banned for six months. He's an IU guy. Kind of Dusty May before Dusty May. Was a manager in the late 80s-early 90s under Knight. Went on to coach the Nets and Pistons. Was in one of my classes.

A friend and I are considering going to the game at Nebraska. He 1st brought it up and I thought nah, it’s Nebraska so there won’t be many seats and the available ones will be a million dollars. Then I look and, no, that “Nebraska fans are the most loyal fans in the country” narrative is such an anachronism. There are plenty of seats and they’re completely reasonable.

This week North Texas will be without two cornerbacks that were expected to play a lot.

My wife was curious and looked up our season tix prices and parking pass in Seat Geek for the Ohio St. game for kicks and giggles… (we aren’t selling, by the way…. lol) ….right now each seat lists for $952 a piece and the parking pass for $348! Good grief,…. about 5 years ago, we couldn’t give our tix away!

I’m sure he’ll land on his feet either way, relentless hard working player. He did workouts already, he’ll either get picked up or not in all likelihood based on those, the letter is his own reach out and it’s well said, but the teams will decide on what he’s shown and showing. Big Noon is one of the worst things to happen to college football in recent years. Cooks the best game in the conference every week while we have to sit at home and then watch the insanely awesome night atmospheres in the SEC.
