  1. You must be clueless to how most coaching staffs work then. Nothing he did is uncommon at any level of sports.

  2. Ah, too much camaraderie. Seen it a million times. Team togetherness can be a cancer that spreads throughout the locker room, it needs to be nipped in the bud before they all start standing up for each other. Wasting time building team unity instead of out in Dunn meadow looking for their three point shots. Makes total sense now.

  4. I'm sorry. By 4 on Friday, I was already in football mode. I'm sure you have heard why by now. Adam was asked to do something by Woodson, didn't think it was his job, waited a few weeks to do it. Woodson got mad didn't speak to Adam for a few weeks, then Adam confronted him and they had an argument and he let him go. Adam was still frustrated about some recruiting things that happened awhile back with Woody. I haven't read the thread so sorry if I'm just saying what everyone else has.

  5. Yes, I did but I didn't use those words. Howard did ultimately do what Woodson wanted him to do. I never said he was complaining. That's putting a spin on it. I said he went to the other assistant/staffer to try and convince Woodson that they needed to change their approach. The other assistant agreed they needed to change but Woodson wouldn't listen. I've worked for multiple head coaches and if assistants got fired every time they didn't agree with a HC decision and talked about it amongst the rest of the staff that HC wouldn't have a staff. It's different to complain amongst the staff than it is complaining to fans, parents, players, and stuff like that. Most coaches don't want yes men but I don't think that applies to this situation.

  6. Reporter - Coach, how are you going to get the team over the hump this year? Mediocre Mike - By separating my 6th year seniors in the locker room because they’re friends with each other.

  7. Actual lmao that this is the **** he spends time focusing on rather than getting this team ready to win a championship. Lol. At least football has a real coach.

  8. No, it doesn't. At some point maybe acknowledge that here @ap2345knows what he's talking about. Ap2345 just told you he's worked for multiple HCs. Howard going to the other assistant/staffers to try and convince Woodson that they needed to change their approach is exactly what an assistant coach is supposed to do (and does) when there's disagreement -- provide a coaching group approach / opinion as to a direction to take, for further disussion. They aren't lap dogs, and that obviously isn't "talking s***" -- All you're doing is putting blatant spin on a coaching situation of which you know nothing out of some blind sense of loyalty.

  9. Getting fired for undermining Woody's recruiting "strategy" has to be one of the worst ways to go. Would probably sound good in a future job interview though.

  10. We can agree to disagree. Also Adam Howard grew up in and around coaching staffs. I think he's well aware of what lines you shouldn't cross. He's also very well thought of in the coaching community. I'll leave it at that.

  11. I guess I should clarify. I'm not really debating coaching acumen, obviously Archie had worse results. I'm saying Woodson has been the worst at killing my fandom. Archie sucked but when we hired him it wasn't the head scratcher that Woody was. Archie was an up comer that other people wanted. Woodson was a failed 60 year old NBA coach. I gave Woody a shot and the initial results were better. But now he's clearly a bust we can't get rid of him. He's taken the most scorched earth approach and attacks the fans, and taunts his own boss for being protected by the donors. If he wasn't who he is the cord would have been cut already

  12. It definitely played a big part in my opinion One of the major reasons TJD came back that year was because he knew he could make just as much in college as he would of going pro and if you believe people in the know one of the major reasons IU landed JHS was because of NIL. Who knows for sure though

  14. I really don't care about basketball right now. Part of that is because the Football team is rolling, but mostly because of Woodson. We have the talent to win the Big Ten but we will finish 5 or 6th in the conference because of Mediocre Mike. It's sad the guy is a former player but he's doing more right now to burn down last bit of fandom I have. He's worse than all the previous bad hires. My hope is after this pathetic season is over that Dolson is allowed to finally get this right. The Cignetti hire should give him all the leverage he needs.

  15. I stayed up until 2am watching that Utah game Saturday night. BYU is terrible. Rivalry game or not, they looked awful. If they played in the B1G they would have 4-5 losses.

  16. Who needs camaraderie, they should be focused on getting over the hump. The hump is a 66 year old failed NBA HC.

  17. If Dolson offered Howard a job in the athletic department then he didn't think what Howard did was a big deal.

  18. I really think there’s something up with AR. No idea what, but they know Flacco’s nothing but stopgap and yet they’re going with him. And there’s no way they think he’s getting them to the playoffs. They drafted the kid knowing he was a long-term project and now 10 games in they’re done? No. Speculating is wildly irresponsible, but this doesn’t pass the smell test in any way.

  19. Thank you for your kind words everybody. My wife passed today at 10:12 AM. Not confirmed for a few hours as we waited in test results. She’s now being kept alive by a machine in the hopes her organs can save lives. At the moment they are optimistic she can help save 8 recipients. Below I am including a tribute I wrote for her. This is Christine’s husband(hubby). I wanted to let people who had not already heard the news know that on Friday, November 8th Christine suffered a medical complication that resulted in a sudden brain bleed. Unfortunately there was no medical intervention that could bring her back to us. Christine is currently being kept alive by machines so that she can hopefully serve as an organ donor. Something that she believed strongly in. We recently learned that she appears to be a prime candidate to donate all her organs. Which for all the people who knew Christine was classic her. Giving of herself so that somebody else could benefit. I have been so touched by the outpouring of support from the various communities that Christine was a part of and helped to foster/nurture. As you all know that was Christine - she built people up without regard to the obstacles that were in the way, she was unstoppable. Christine and I would sometimes disagree about this. She was amazing and I wanted more time with her. But now in this final hour I realize that I was wrong. She was too special to not share. She was a light that needed to be allowed to shine on more people. I have often heard the advice - don’t take away someone’s hope, it might be all they have. And Christine was hope to anybody who needed some. Through her kindness she gave hope freely and without limit. If you would indulge and please forgive my rambling but I wanted to also share a bit about our final day. And then a few things more. To try and sum up concisely a love that in my books was one for the ages. It wasn’t always easy but dear god was it worth it. I freely admit that this may be more for me than for you. But I want people to know these things. Christine helped make our last day together a magical day. Her mother had been visiting and this was our last day together for her visit. We had a wonderful morning together which transitioned from home as we went for a parent teacher conference to talk about our favorite topic. Our wonderful daughter Libby. We went to ihop which has become a simple family tradition, before moving on to the zoo to attempt to fulfill a promise to Libby. We failed because we had made some poor assumptions but Christine being Christine quickly made a plan on how we could seek to fulfill it. We continued though the zoo making wonderful memories. We then went home where Libby and Christine’s mom sat down to enjoy a movie. A treasured tradition for them both. Christine and I were blessed to putz around the house getting things done and we got to share little moments of connection. We searched to see if we could watch the Thursday night service of our church as due to traveling this was a way we could share it together. Unable to to do so we continued to occupy ourself with the home and making plans for the future good times we intended to have. Eventually Libby was all showered and tucked in and as the day wrapped up Christine began to pack for her trip the next day. I elected to sleep on the couch to run interference between our very vocal puppy who does not believe in sleeping through the night. Christine was to take her mom back to Wheaton in the morning and I wanted her to have a chance to get some rest. The last I saw her was around 11 pmas she came downstairs to get a pint of coffee ice cream to eat as a last minute snack. For anybody that knew her. This was the most Christine thing ever. I told her I loved her and to get some good rest. And I watched her go up the stairs of the home we built for the last time. I used to be able to be a less than ideal version of myself because I always had Christine there to have my back and to help me be the person I could be. Now all I have is her example. I’m going to remember all the times we had together, all the dreams we had together and everything in between. And one last thing to conclude. A warning and plea. Hug all your people, tell them what they mean to you. And do not wait to forgive and reconcile, life can come out of nowhere. Do not wait for tomorrow to repair your relationships. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, I struggled with this at times and feel so blessed that I was the best version of myself that night. Our final words together were words of love and support. And in honor of Christine I have another thing (and then one last thing as she was also prone to say). And now I leave you with two quotes. One from Les Mis. Something that was special to Christine before I met her and became special to us as a couple. The last quote is from a TV show of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That Christine and I both thought was a truly beautiful sentiment. And in some way she found solace in. I never imagined the way I would look to it for strength in this time. There's a grief that can't be spoken There's a pain goes on and on And What is grief, if not love persevering? And finally the movie Moulin Rouge meant a lot to us we had for a time a tradition of watching it on Valentine’s Day. So I leave you with: As I mourn this loss I will watch this over and over again because when I hear it. I am transported back to our first Valentine’s Day when our growing love was only ahead of us.

From a viewer perspective I get it. However, with $ these networks are paying the B1G I think they have every right to determine networks and kickoff times. I'd much rather IU receiving 80 gazillion dollars and kickoff at noon than making Big 12 TV $ and kicking off at 8pm

If they pull that crap the national media will absolutely blast the committee. Despite what many say the national pundits almost unanimously love IU. We have big hitters (Klatt, Kennel, Wasserman etc) trumpeting the case for IU weekly. IU in many ways have become America's darling and America loves an underdog story. If they put a 2 loss SEC school in over 1 loss B1G (IU) then people will lose their poo on the committee.

  28. When Georgia lost to Alabama they fell from #1 to #4 in the polls. When PSU lost to OSU they fell from #3 to #6. Precedent has been that losing to a top five team as a top five team doesn’t cost you much. But neither of those had the whole brand bias thing IU would be up against.

  29. Pretty sad. I honestly don't even care about basketball right now. Thank God for what Cig has done because otherwise I'd be miserably loathing in BB right now. People that are upset with BB should be focusing their energy on a program/coach that is over delivering in every way.

  33. That’s certainly fair. Last year’s team was bad, and the early season struggles proved to be anything but a fluke. So for those looking for assurances that we won’t have a repeat of last year, I get it. I have sort of taken it as a given that we’re better than last year just based on talent alone and kind of have an eye on other things. But honestly, given IU basketball’s last few decades maybe I shouldn’t take anything for granted.

  34. It will be good for the SOS. Definitely need to play them with the non con schedule IU has. I think the Zags are one of the best teams in the country so I wouldn’t expect an IU win.

  35. Fans like you I guess don’t but the B1G who got money for that win and the ncaa record books count it so……. Yeah a play in game counts. IU has made 41 ncaa tourneys and has a record of 68-36. Win 67 would be the one in the record books that you don’t want to count. Contact the ncaa and tell them as a fan you don’t think it should count

  36. If Woodson was a likable, hardworking, successful coach, this would be a total nothing burger. He’s none of the 3, and that’s why there’s an 11 page discussion about firing a young staffer. Firing Howard encapsulates everything wrong with the Woodson administration.

  37. Have any of those you've fired been offered another position not under your supervision immediately after you fired them by your superior? I think that is a validation that the firing was more personal than professional.

  44. He moved Leal's locker away from Galloway eventually. He just didn't think it was on top of his to-do list. Two 6th year seniors who Woody begged to come back and paid them a lot of money should be able to handle having their lockers close by. Pretty much everyone on staff agreed with Howard I know that. But sometimes Woody has to be Woody

  45. Is it me or should Coach Woodson be the one to let the players know that they’ll be separated?
    2 points
  46. AH admit he is in the wrong and doesn't know something? Him admit that someone else isn't an idiot? lol, that'll never happen. I will say that in a couple of my workplaces bosses have made decisions that people didn't think were a good idea. Sometimes people would talk about that, form a small group and go talk to the boss about it with why they thought it wasn't a good idea and ways things could be changed for the better. Sometimes the boss was persuaded, sometimes not. No one got fired over it. This is what it sounds like Howard may have been doing. Of course, I may have just had better bosses than Woodson.

  50. Woodson's career win percentage at the time of hire was .463. Miller's career win percentage at the time of hire was .688. Woodson has done better in B1G conference games, but he also had the Cook's and Simons' checkbook in the NIL era. Archie did not have the luxury of paid mercenaries. Bottom line: BOTH SUCK as coaches. Indiana should have/needs to move on.
