  1. lol. Incredible. As I’ve said before, if only Woodson worked half as hard as you people do at defending him.

  2. Pretty nice 1st outing for Kel’el in a beatdown loss to Golden State. 12pts 6rebs 5blks and other than taking a couple of bad early 3’s he was very solid. Kind of doubt Ware will put up particularly good summer league numbers because the Heat’s guards are bad, but he was exactly what you’re drafting him for. Imagine the Heat brass were pleased.

  3. Kinda thinking you and Wayne are both right: A winner will automatically unite the fans.

  4. That’s your opinion. I’m willing to see how this year plays out with a top 10 roster.

  5. Cody got thrown into the Dejounte Murray deal. He’s now a Hawk.

  6. Outside of McCracken and Knight, IU has been pretty bad at hiring coaches. So Woodson is better than Miller, Crean, Dakich, and Davis? That's not exactly a statement of excellence.

  7. So no substance with your reply. Just names…..soft.

  8. Comparing RMK with Woodson…. Wow. Maybe you should apply for the athletics job because you seem to have a high opinion what in reality is very &^* coaching .

  9. As a NYK fan, you should know the only reason he was fired was because Steve Mills was so bad at his job that they had to bring in Phil Jackson. And Phil Jackson cleaned house within a week which lead to Derek Fisher being hired where he subsequently won 17 games and didn’t even make it to the ASG in year two. The Mills/Jackson era is one of the worst in franchise history. The Knicks went downhill the second they demoted Grunwald after a season in which Woodson won 54 games, a total that hasn’t been bested since. But yeah, preach about Woodson and entitlement lol. Woodson was the least of the Knicks problems.

  11. No but they can be misleading. In this case his competition includes the likes of Mike Davis and Archie Miller. It's more an indictment of how incompetently run IU is than anything.

  12. Lmao no one gives a **** about your cherry-picked statistic. He barely beats the bottom feeders of the NCAA during the non-conference schedule, amazing! 31-29 in an incredibly mediocre Big Ten.

  13. Hang the banner! EDIT: This is a dreadful statistic. Not evidence of success or building momentum... "Just win" ... we can all agree on that. Let's see it.

  14. Well they were both and that is what made it difficult. However, Woody didn’t have a problem with it until he had a bad season a lost a large portion of the fanbase including the Hysterics to a certain degree. And that is why it’s a bad look. If he had problems he could have axed it at any time but he deemed it helpful to be worth it. again, other side, you can’t be critical in that way and expect to maintain that type of access. I think a lot of folks thought Indiana was going to move along and spoke their minds.

  15. Do you know the man? Good lord; an @$$ of a person? You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I’ve gotten the impression that people that know Mike Woodson love and respect him as a person. And yet you don’t know him personally and somehow formed that conclusion.

  16. I want our basketball team to win; however, I want us to have a different coach instead of the a** of a person and coach we currently have.

  17. Strange Vendetta my guy. It’s Because they want Indiana to be great above all things else. Look at how the cover IUWBB. They would be Woodys biggest fans if only he was good at coaching college basketball and winning games. Enduring last season in real time was difficult for the most ardent fans. As an aside we all knew this was going to end badly at some point because they are fans yet they were functioning in a much larger capacity with real impact.

  18. I formed that conclusion based off what he did during senior night! Putting fans against fans and classify people like me as not being true fans really stuck into my crawl! I’ve been an IU basketball fan long before he became a player but yet I’m not a true fan! That crap is BS and he shouldn’t have never said it because he can’t take criticism.

  19. https://x.com/NBA/status/1810073834499784734 Kel’el with a really good game today in a win over Sacramento. 26 and 11 and Sac had no matchup for him so he just punished them in the paint. Very nice.

  20. When I say a “Uniter” I mean someone that hasn’t already divided and seems to be happy to continue to divide. Winning Consistently for sure is the biggest hurdle. Woody started as a “Uniter” “us against them” guy but this season he turned on a huge portion of the fanbase. Instead of taking accountability and saying he didn’t live up to his own expectations and these are the things we are going to do to fix it. He went on a crusade against fans not happy with him not reaching the expectations he acknowledges. Just completely backwards strategy and could have been much easier if he could have swallowed some pride.

  21. Piss on that. We need a winner. We had a uniter in Crean and yall couldn't get over him adjusting his pants and clapping.

  22. IU is one of the best fanbases in the nation. Top 5 in attendance no matter the results. Have been incredibly patient despite years of bad results. But we need a “uniter” at this point and what Woody pulled last season with the “True Fan” and the social media presence has divided the fanbase worse than I think I’ve seen. I’m 43. It wouldn’t be that hard with our resources. Our fanbase enjoys good, fundamental basketball and can recognize it. Hustle plays, good shooting, defense, etc. Hopefully this is the year it looks better on the court.

  23. That tells you has bad the program is. The only two with higher winning percentages were a legend that was a “catch lightning in a bottle” hire (RMK) and a guy who broke a stupid inconsequential rule that cause the administration to fall on its sword (Sampson). Mediocre Mike got third place by default.

  24. If you consider winning 6/10 games success, I guess what you said made sense. How many blowout losses too?
    2 points
  25. And because those coaches were awful but Woodson is meh? You become ok with that? You keep pushing until you get it right. The goal is championships not “yay we made the dance or yes we made it to the sweet sixteen” . Again recalibrate your goals. Forget the guy and just be honest with yourself…….. he’s not the guy.

  26. He didn’t lose a large portion of the fan base, he lost a very loud minority. Most level-headed people aren’t happy with the way last season played out, but understand losing a program great in TJD and an additional 1st rd pick was likely going to lead to some regression, and firing somebody after a single bad season wasn’t going to happen. Places like this represent a fraction of the actual fan base. I read BTownBanners, Rivals, Inside The Hall, and HSN and this place by far is the most insecure when it comes to Woodson. Woodson is absolutely in a prove it year, but way too many people bought into the false hype and rumors perpetuated by some of the bigger name voices who cover Indiana basketball.

  27. Not sure why this post got heat—completely good questions. 1. Yes 2. Ceiling is 30+ wins and a natty. Floor is 20-22 wins, and that floor includes potential for injuries. If injury Armageddon hit us with four guys with season ending injuries it could be revised. Below about 22 wins? That buyout is niiice and low by this coming April. Below 20 wins again and with this roster? It wouldn’t matter what the buyout is—he’d be gone at any price.

  28. Yeah, they were pleased. Great outing for Ware.

  29. Again generalizing people. You’re afraid to go to specifics. Look I’m avid New York Knicks fan. There was a kind of respect then but the reason he got fired was because of the very same reasons we see evident now. A sense of entitlement. At New York he didn’t want to bring in meaningful assistants because he thought he knew everything. Also he couldn’t build our team because he burned a ton bridges and a lot of players were put off by him. There are degrees to these things. You’re paying a guy 3 million dollar a year and he buys himself the best roster he’s ever had….. and the best ceiling most of us have is sweet sixteen with a possible elite 8 chance. What the heck are we even doing? That’s loser mentality and defeatism. You play to win championships. Not to settle for mediocrity .

  30. Five blocks? That’ll play.

  31. Infectious positivity and works his @$$ off. That’ll stick. Great for him. When Bam gets an occasional game off we may see a two Hoosier front court now and then

  32. People that I encounter on a daily basis don’t make millions of dollars and are in a very visible leadership role. What he said and did on senior night was totally uncalled for, childish, and very unprofessional

  35. And if he’s retained? By the way- this has same path as the US Soccer job. Administration still want to keep him after doing horribly. It’s taking an entire fanbase to actually make his firing a possibility by unified and calling out sponsors and a constant stream of fans saying they won’t pay for games until a change is made. This possibly goes way beyond good or bad record I fear.
    1 point
  36. Yeah. That’s how it’s done. Cough Duke and UNC. Loser mentality. You’ve accepted mediocrity.

  37. "Again generalizing people." Then the poster goes on with "the best ceiling most of us have is sweet sixteen with a possible elite 8 chance"..." That’s loser mentality and defeatism." Sounds a lot like generalizing. Kind of weird though. RMK didn't win a banner each and every year. In between those 3 NCs, I see that he and we were settling for mediocrity of not reacing the last three days. Funny. Ironic. I put it to you, Banksy- isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen! Well, I'm not settling for a sweet sixteen or possible elite 8 chance. I'm going to live happily ever after and continue cheering for IU. You can project whatever you want to and diss the coach for his personality traits. He is human after all. RMK wasn't...ahem...quirky. Mike Davis wasn't... Nor was Dan D. Not at all goofy. Nor he who must not be named. (Think cell phone and team running amok). Hey and car salesman Top Cat Crean was normal as well normal along the lines of Hollywood. Archie was pure milquetoast. Woodson? Yeah, his look of love is quite motivational. Yeah, human too. What the hell does that have to do with winning? Now I think Coach Woodson's flawed selections of guards, bad platooning of subs, and strange or lack of play calling and reliance on bigs and losing has continued to drive us cray cray. OMG! He is such a jerk (?) because he is a human. OK. Next issue. Let's talk about the suits or sweaters or choice of cars or how he does his facial hair next. Cool bro. I know, I know, this is the fire Coach Woodson thread. Go for it. Does it help to claim fans settle for mediocrity? When one doesn't even know that or them...

  38. Its July and you're asking about ceilings? Good lord

  39. Some of you just have an unhealthy hatred for the man. We all supported a coach for years that had many flaws but we looked the other way when he is winning. If Woodson has won big nobody would care if he was an a hole

  40. Broad statements to excuse a poor coach. Sad.

  41. So you rather be right than see Woodson succeed

  42. One more thing. By all accounts and per his prior performance, Myles Rice is a very talented AND very perceptive kid. Myles Rice had one primary weakness as a freshman. Betcha he’s a 500 outside shots a day guy this summer.

  43. You’re greatly underestimating Mike Woodson’s ability to screw things up. He only won 23 games with a senior TJD, with six of those wins being by five points or less. This past year’s team won 19 games with seven of them decided by five points or less. A few things break differently and either season would look much different. Plus 20 wins isn’t even save job worthy. He won 21 games his first season and it was far from a good year. 25 wins should be the absolute floor for him this season to think about saving his job.

  44. You're delusional if you think any coach in America would continue to give access to a bunch of unaffiliated amateurs who talk s*** about the program they run. I mean JFC. Go air public crap about your biggest client in your professional line of work and let me know what that relationship looks like the following day.

  45. Fair enough. I’m not at the point where this whole ordeal has become personal for me. I just want to win and am glad that we jettisoned the dorks.
