Yes! Big Ten Network revenue per school is expected to be $100 million per year with the new contract. That's so tangible I can smell it.

I really don't understand the pearl clutching on this. It's brilliant business, it keeps the Big Ten relevant, and it brings some excitement to the conference on a national level. Most of the people who are crying about the poor kids are not listening to the kids opinions on this. Instead they're using the kids as an excuse to promote their own interests. All the interviews I've heard with the athletes have positive opinions. This is progress, boomers. Embrace it or die off like the Big 12 and Pac 10 are.

    B1G expansion

At what point is a conference no longer a conference and becomes just a loose association of teams. We haven't had a true, in my mind, conference champion since we quit playing each team twice. I have no idea how that gets sorted out in an equitable manner.

I will admit to pearl clutching, but I am NOT a boomer!! You state "it's brilliant business" as if that is irrefutable, but I remain unconvinced. Adding X number of teams to your media rights package might equal more $$ in the short term. That doesn't automatically equate to a better product or experience. Have Maryland, Rutgers and Nebraska made the B1G objectively better? Has IU benefited in any tangible way? I wasn't one of those "crying about the poor kids" but you are correct that I don't give much weight to the athlete's opinions on this particular subject. So, no, I am not mesmerized by the shiny object of never-ending expansion or believe it is the only possible path to college sports nirvana. No reason to argue though, it's happening and only time will tell if it's the right decision.

Listen... F ND and they should never be allowed in our conference. I hope every conference denies them admittance and their phony football program dies off. This is not the 70s and 80s.

I can assure you they are not making it up as they go along. A someone who used to be very active in the Alumni Association, we were told years before they joined that the Big 10 wanted Rutgers and Maryland. They have been chasing Notre Dame for decades, and wanted Texas for many, many years. Just because you aren't privy to something doesn't mean it hasn't been happening. Will they regret it later? Time will tell, but it's been in the works, and in fact actually been happening, for a long time, and nobody regrets it yet.

I agree they will figure it out the best they can. As for assuming "they" have a plan in place though? I think that is pretty optimistic since all indications are "they" are making this up as they go and justifying it as required to keep up with the SEC. Specious argument, IMO. Doing stupid things may be profitable, but doesn't make them less stupid. Anyway, some things can't be mitigated- they just suck. Football is all that is being considered and that is the least impacted. All the other sports are gonna pay the price in this brave new world of continental scheduling. Granted, I don't care about the vast majority of non-revenue sports either, but let's not pretend this isn't entirely football-centric. I guess my thought is the whole super-conference idea is epically retarded and short-sighted and will be regretted sooner than later.

#gabecupps #malikreneau #anthonyleal #tamarbates #racethompson and FWIW, it seems as though IUBB just lost at least two players who never would’ve gotten in the game for Geno.

When you have to skew the numbers to try to make your point you're not doing well. The last championship game a B1G team won was in 2000 (probably not a coincidence that's your starting year). In 2002 Maryland won but they were ACC at that time. Louisville vacated their championship from 2013 but Michigan still lost that game. (Were they awarded the championship or is there no winner from that year?) So the B1G had won 1 championship since 2000 and that was in 2000. Extend that timeline back 3 years to make it the last 25 years instead of 22 and each conference has won 1. I do not like the B1G style of play. Neither do a lot of recruits which is certainly part of the reason for such a long national championship drought. I'm not saying they should play the style of the PAC but they definitely need to change the style of play or the conference might have another 22 years with just 1 championship.

I think UCLA’s style fits in well based off their coach; however, I think they could adopt a more open style of play! I think the B10 should adopt a more open style of play. Get rid of the way Wisconsin & Matt Painter coaches and plays the game!

You are right, but I think it's become abundantly clear that the only thing that matters is projected Football TV money. I can't think of any other reason to cobble together a coast to coast conglomerate with no commonality at all. It's like the SEC and Big Ten(20?) are playing Risk and simply acquiring territory.

So, essentially they traded Brogdon for a late 1, a lottery ticket(Nesmith) and cap relief. Given where this team is, if they make good calls with the cap space, it works for me.

Big 10 is not done. I expect in the not too distant future Washington, Oregon, Stanford, Cal, and Colorado will make their case for joining. I'd bet some subset of those schools will end up in the Big Ten. Washington: 14th biggest market, good football school, AAU Oregon: 25th biggest market, good football school, NIKE $$$, AAU Stanford: 6th biggest market, elite academically, endowment $$$*, AAU Cal: 6th biggest market, may have an in as a sister school to UCLA, AAU Colorado: 17th biggest market, AAU All those schools are better fits academically with the Big Ten than the SEC, and USC and UCLA serve as local rivals facilitating the bridge. I think Notre Dame, Boston College, North Carolina, and Duke also seem like likely targets. Florida State and Miami would be great financially, but I just think it's going to be hard to pry them from the SEC where they seem like better fits. *Stanford has a $37.8B endowment... the entire Big Ten has a $75B endowment.

Doubt AAU is prerequisite. I mean it's nice and all, but not having it doesn't mean you're bad. If you're a fan of rankings, US News and a few others rank universities. BC is ranked ahead of most B10 schools, and is not AAU. Miami and FSU are both ranked better than several AAU B10 schools. AZ, while an AAU school, is near 100ish. UNC is AAU, but isn't ranked all that well, and has fake classes lol. Baylor is ranked ahead of MSU, Maryland, AZ, Kansas, Rutgers, Nebraska, Overall, I think some universities might get disqualified for poor academics, but for the most part, I think it's simply more of a $$ conversation now. I hope it's not Stanford. Totally lame fans, and both BB and FB are declining. I'd be happy with OR, WA, or one of the AZ schools. My preference though, is grabbing a top ACC school or two, or a team from TX. Given USC and UCLA instigated this whole thing, not sure they cared too much about the travel to begin with. Just to level set, LA to Seattle is almost a 3 hour flight. LA to Indy (in the middle of current B10 schools) is a little over 4 hours. The time zone shift will need the game times to adjust, but the flight times are nt exactly big deltas unless you're talking about Rutgers and Maryland.

Brogdon gone. Main pieces coming back are Theis, Nesmith, and a first with zero protection. Gotta imagine we are committed to not being good next year. And the idea is get as much run for Hali, Mathurin, Duarte, and IJ. See who does and doesn't fit next to them. As long as the Cavs make the playoffs we now have 3 first round picks next year. Draft is suppose to be loaded. Can't frowm upon that

New Albany will host Centerville (Ohio) and future Hoosier Gabe Cupps @CuppsGabe on Thursday, December 29 at 7:30 p.m. It will be an excellent opportunity for #iubb fans in Southern Indiana and Louisville to come to the Doghouse to see the future IU guard.
