  2. No we didn’t. We literally got our first commit a year ago yesterday. Wait a week and then we can freak out we aren’t on the same timeline as last year. Our fan base and recruiting doesn’t go well together. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  3. Seriously? He doesn't excite you? A 5 star Indiana kid who was on Team USA Under 18 team, and most likely a Burger Boy.......and he doesn't excite you?

I'm pretty sure Rolen told FG how great Mercer was and Mercer is returning the favor to Scott. I couldn't be happier for IU Baseball. Scott is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He does so much around this town already.

  6. Last year was definitely a different recruiting year where a ton of top rated players came off the board early. This year only 11 of the top 50 players have committed and 26 of the top 100. Only 2 teams USC and UCLA have more then 2 commitments so far. You are definitely right this fan base and recruiting doesn’t go well for some lol. I would hope some people would wait until the early signing period before they started freaking out about the 2019 class Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  7. I still feel he will be at IU. I just think the 18-year-old kid wants to be told how great he is, visit new places and be shown a good time. I don't fault him for this. Some like the process others don't.

  8. He dunks a lot, because he can! He puts himself in a great position to get a lot of rebound dunks, that's much better than getting a rebound and starting another offensive possession, or worse yet, not getting the rebound because he didn't crash the glass. In the vids I have watched he seems to be a little old school and uses the glass for a lot of baby hooks and finishing moves. I like him a lot and I want him at Indiana.

Avery Short has also decommitted. This was probably our best recruit for '19. He likely would have gone pro given he will be a high draft pick so I take this with a grain of salt. It appears the bleeding has stopped for now. I think we are down to 6 HS recruits for next year (not including JUCO or transfers) and because of that our ranking is in the 70's/80's which is not unexpected with a coaching change. We didn't lose a lot from last year's roster, which is a huge blessing given this transition.

  10. Pretty good player here, we seem to forget about often: A.J. Guyton chose to play basketball for the Indiana University Hoosiers under coach Bob Knight from 1996 to 2000. He was a four-year starter and appeared in every game while at Indiana. When he left, Guyton was Indiana's all-time leader in three-point baskets (283) and fourth in all-time scoring (2,100).[1] He also ranked eighth in all-time Indiana assists (403) and tenth in steals (128).

    Tailgating

I’ve been on here for awhile now and I know this has been discussed, but anyone who tailgates in lot 12 or grass lots wanna meet up with me and my gf for a few tailgates this year? I go all out typically ribs and sides and the whole nine. I have a nice sound system as well that I setup. As of right now I will not be attending the home opener due to the fact my gfs best friend is getting married on that Saturday.....in Minnesota. Gf has said oh you can stay and go to the game, but we all know what that means....

  14. I'm overseas working as mentioned before and will miss half the season. Including Hoosier Hysteria. You guys are my eyes and ears, I appreciate all of your opinions and discussions. Alittle debate is good for the soul, It keeps us honest. So while I get behind on having an educated enough opinion to participate more, thank you all for doing just that. Would like to know if there will be anywhere I can stream all the games and HH that I'm going to miss? I'm so d#%$ ready for this season to get started.

From ESPN: "...in October 1974, Bellamy had played his final game for the New Orleans Jazz and was placed on waivers. No team picked him up, and his 13-year career was over. What had he accomplished? When he retired from the NBA, he was sixth all-time in points, third in rebounds and third in field goal percentage. Since he averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds a game and shot 52 percent for his career."

  16. LOVE! I was a big Damezi fan before and when we signed him and have cooled recently. These couple highlights remind me why I liked him so much. Plus he always seems like a kid that puts winning above all. Great video (And yes, I know it’s a short HIGHLIGHT package). Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  17. Much of my "gut" feeling comes from exactly this. Chris007 is always in the know. We go from TJD commitment watch to crickets, then the article(s) come out about him not being close and strongly discounting the IU rumors. Sumpin's-happenin'. Regardless, I appreciate the info you provide for us Chris007; your posts are where many of us turn when we're looking for facts and/or solid news. Stay active.

  20. I agree. I wish every year we would wait until the early signing period until they freak out. Recruiting is very seldom the issue at IU. It’s the coaches. When the recruiting becomes a problem the coach is on his way out. That is far from what is happening here. It used to be August or even September before people freaked. It seems with the great job Old Fart and others have done with AAU, and others with recruiting people want instant gratification and just flip out when it doesn’t happen. Even those that claim others should have more testicular fortitude. I wish they would enjoy the process more and realize we are going to have a top 10-20 class most likely with a chance to be better. 21. I wouldn't read too much into this. Ofcourse they are going to say nice things about UK when asked questions about them from a Kentucky reporter. What's clear is they are having to work at it because he likes IU. I expect UK to be on his final list and to consider them. I will be extra happy if he picks IU since it will upset these idiot cat fans. I cannot stand their arrogance matched only by their unbelievable ignorance. For anyone whose never met a cat fan just picture talking to the biggest moron you've ever met whose always talking down to you in a condescending way. The few nice intelligent cats you meet are very much aware of how terrible their fan base is.

  31. I just get the feeling he's looking to snub IU based on the fact that everyone assumed he was coming to Bloomington. Sort of an "I'll show them" sort of thing. I have no basis or logic for this; just something I could very well see happening.

  32. I do see the comparison to Wiggins and agree the stats look good but the advanced numbers don't lie. Two things: 1) lets see what he does with a competent coach like Pop. Toronto was always so guard oriented. Maybe now he can work inside out with guys like Pau Gasol and that might improve those numbers as well as being in a more structured system. 2) My reason for thinking the Spurs did well, which is what I described above is Kawhi made it almost impossible to get a full return on him. The fact he might sit out, has this phantom long-term injury, and publicly stated he wants to go to the Lakers makes it hard for a team to invest the type of package you mentioned. Spurs obviously weren't going to trade him to the Lakers. That really only leaves Boston in my mind that could have come up with a package around Jaylen Brown, 1st round pick next year, Terry Rozier? It just seemed like the Spurs had very limited options in this regard.

  40. Yeah, I'd say that qualifies as a "pretty good" career. He certainly deserves to be mentioned with the IU all-time greats. Happy to say I had the privilege to see him play, although back then, I heard more games on the radio than I saw on tv.
