My grandmother suffered from dementia. It is an unbelievable condition. I once had a two hour conversation with her while she thought I was someone else. Given his condition, there is no way Coach should be in public with his former players. That's just a travesty waiting to happen when he doesn't recognize them. Let him sit up in those club seat behind the baseline and stand up and be acknowledged by the crowd. Fisher can announce his stats, they can put a video up on the board, the crowd can go nuts, and we are done. A quick 5 min before tip off.

I believe the criticism of De'ron is justified, but I also think it's understandable to an extent as to why he does what he does. He has had one of the most unfortunate careers for an IU player in recent memory. High 4 star player coming out of high school, committed to a coach who was fired, enrolled late his freshman year, was hyped to be the man going into Archie's first year only to lose that role to Juwan, as well as tear his achilles, on top of numerous seasons not making the NCAA tournament. Despite the lack of production on the court, I believe he still has a large voice in the locker room. He has 2 options in my eyes: 1) Accept the role he has on the team, play smart, fundamental bball when he gets in, and help be a voice of leadership for the remainder of the season to help the team maximize its potential. OR option 2) Continue to be mad at his role on the team, play hero ball when he gets out on the floor causing him to pick up 2 quick fouls and provide no leadership. Colin Hartman faced a similar situation and we saw how he handled it. I went to my first game ever at Assembly Hall when they played Arkansas. I got their early to watch warm ups. I sat and watched De'ron shoot corner 3's for 10 minutes straight (a 50% free throw shooter) cracking jokes with teammates, while Joey and Trayce practiced free throws and post moves. This as well as other stories mentioned shows me his commitment level to the team and winning. Hope he is able to turn the corner because I think his leadership, or lack there of, could be very integral to IU's success for the remainder of the season.

That's exactly what I'd hope for...no speeches or anything just a wave and tribute will be more than enough to heal old wounds and IU can FINALLY fully move on.

I always respected Coach Knight's knowledge more than his methods. Whether he comes back or not is entirely up to him. If he does, he pretty clearly is not who he was when he left. I try to give him credit for the good things he did at Indiana while having compassion for what he is going through now. Those comments from Dakich are not a good look from him.

Even if it was just a token press, I was really glad to see Archie bring that back against OSU after it worked so well the last 10 minutes against NW. Sometimes just mixing things up a bit during a game can swing momentum, I just hope we keep doing it because it hasn’t happened often in the Archie era. It’s like a football team who’s offense has stalled most of the game, then they come out in a no huddle and it kickstarts everything.

Big Ten Teams in the Polls???

That’s utter crap. If we’d lost the home games to Nebraska or NW, those would’ve been bad losses. But we didn’t lose those games. If a team is gonna lose 8-12 games, losses like Wisky and Maryland on the road are the exact definition of “not a bad loss”.

I think we’re going to see a ton of similar resumes come selection Sunday. I don’t have a feel on who would clearly be worthy of a top 4 seed, the next group, and then the bubble teams. It seems like the entirety of college basketball could be a 1 seed in one game and miss the tourney in the next. Baffling! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I agree. That's why some of this is so freaking frustrating. I hope he figures it out and is here for 30 years.

Big Ten Teams in the Polls???

In my opinion Rutgers shouldn’t be lumped into the same group as Nebraska or northwestern this year. If you would of said Rutgers at home is a bad loss then I would maybe agree but losing to them on the road wouldn’t be considered a bad loss for me at least. I watched Seton Hall get drilled earlier in the year and Seton Hall is a really good team. At least for this year Rutgers is playing at a level that is more in line with the middle of the B1G instead of the bottom. Just my opinion Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Personally, I don't want us to be ranked at this point. The mental fortitude of this team is rather week. I don't think they can handle the added pressure of being ranked. Moreso when they play on the road. We've always (for the most part) been an above average home team. Just my $0.02.

Thinking about it watching MSU it occurs to me the formula for a consistent program might be to recruit the most talented, but undersized PG available every three years. The only difference between MSU and the rest of the conference, is their best player stayed 4 years (Winston) while other teams lose momentum to the NBA draft every couple years. Duke kind of benefited from that model for a while too, with Reddick, then Grayson Allen, and now Jones. We had Yogi. Maybe that should be a new practice of our recruiting. Grab the best PG under 6 feet available every time we can.

Archie is a pretty likeable guy. I want him to succeed here because he's someone I'd like to have as the face of our biggest program.

Big Ten Teams in the Polls???

Here’s a crazy stat: Of the top eight in the current B1G standings, two teams are ranked. Of the bottom six in the current B1G standings, three teams are ranked.

I know Dan hasn't been a fan of Knight for a while now, but you'd think he'd lighten up a bit with the condition he's in now. I don't know how yesterday's events unfolded, but I doubt Knight himself had much or anything to do with it. It was probably nothing more than his family not being comfortable with putting him in front of 17k screaming fans because of the state he was in. I don't see a reason for Dakich to get so pissed about it.

Count me on on that as well. He is young and seems to handle adversity well. He dont throw his players under the bus like the last guy. Hopefully he can succeed the finish to this season is big and next year is huge Sent from my SM-G960U using BtownBanners mobile app

    Indiana's SOS

Yeah I was telling brass in the other thread with the strength of the B1G I would be fairly confident as long as they beat Nebraska that they would make it with 18 wins. Probably could also with losing to Nebraska but I wouldn’t be as confident. Keep in mind Ohio st got in last year at 8-12 in conference and only beat 1 top 5 B1G team and beat 1 tournament quality team in the non conference. Let’s not find out if 18 wins is enough. Not inside info or anything just what I’ve seen on twitter....From what I’ve read....looks like Teagardin(SP?) will move to special teams, and looks like IU is close to getting Jason Jones. Was a DB coach at Ole miss....this past season he was at FAU. Looks like a good recruiter from what I’ve found....he would be the new safeties coach.
