I still don’t think the Kansas players’ draft decisions were the reason Romeo waited to announce—he will get his share of minutes and shots wherever he goes. This changes very little imo. Kansas was always going to have the better overall talent but even Romeo has to see they tend to underperform annually in the tournament. He will be one of many stars there-but he could be THE star at Vandy or IU. I think in the end he chooses location for his family to see his games and likes the idea of being the In-State Recruit to put IU back in national conversation again. He saw the power and loyalty of the IU fan base at The Hall and at his games and during the recruitment. It takes a special person to endure and embrace that and still thrive. Damon did it. Cody did it. I think Romeo will do it. Hoosiers is still the pick that makes the most sense tor me! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners13 points -

Wherever Romeo goes, good for him. One recruit will never define Indiana Basketball and even though we’ve had some really good individual players over the years, the team was what won us those championships. A well coached, good shooting, defensive focused team. We’re back on track with the coaching and the defense, and I think the fundamentals will only continue to get better. No more Prillers or April’s taking scholarships, but specific recruits narrowed down to fit Archie’s vision and scheme. The future is looking as good as it has in a very long time, with or without Romeo.12 points -

Yeah that interview sounded pretty positive for IU imo, I'm not sure what other people are freaking out about. Just more pessimists jumping to conclusions I guess. He said more about IU than any of the other 2 schools in that interview, and I feel like his answer was more thought out: "I like coach [Archie] Miller. He gets the best out of his players and he proved that this year. Even though they weren't that good of a team, having the best season, he got them ready for big games like Duke and stuff like that. And then they also got coach [Ed] Schilling. His individual development over the summer with guards, his resume says it all. He sent so many guys to the NBA when he was at UCLA. So those two are reasons I like Indiana."9 points -

Still see him at IU. Only see two advantages of KU. Championship caliber team, and other great players. On the other hand, IU offers the ability to stay close to home. The lure of being an instate legend with an already established personal fanbase. As much PT as he can handle. And most of all, a tough, defensive mined coach that can help with the ONE major flaw in Romeo's game. Experts are saying that defense is his glaring weakness. Still saying he stays home and plays for IU. ROOAAAR! Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app9 points -

AK beat me to it. I see more positives for IU in this article than any other school. Coach Miller gets the best out of players and all three schools have positives in getting players to the league (Schilling, in our case). Group that with him announcing in his HS gym, I’m liking IU now. Might be too close to call, but him saying that there aren’t going to be any more visits doesn’t mean he’s not in contact with the coaches via phone/text. Memories! My how times have changed! I think that was 1988 when the UK assistant coach sent the recruit (Mills) 1000 cash by mail and it popped open in transit and the Emery air freight people took pictures of it. As we’ve seen from the latest scandals and investigations the going price for top recruits for some programs appears to be over $100,000 now! Inflation! Whatever the case—I imagine Kentucky uses much stronger packing tape now for their special deliveries!! Lol.....7 points -

This thread is great. It’s Vandy, no it’s IU, if he commits at McD it’s bad news, If he commits at his high school it’s IU, Kansas loses players like expected and it has to be Kansas, Romeo isn’t going to take another visit so it has to be Kansas. This is Why o check the board every day, the mental gymnastics is amazing. I can’t wait for the next high profile recruit we discuss. Lets be honest, the longer this recruitment went the better it is for IU. Archie was the new coach in town and it’s given him time. At this point no additional visit is needed bc the Langford’s have spent the last season watching each program critically. Wherever Romeo goes I wish him good luck, but I’m rooting for the home team.6 points -

This! I fully expected Kansas talk to pick up this week simply because their season is over and two guys declared. But, the Kansas talk is actually based on zero real information from the Langford camp. It’s based on nothing but guesses and feeling. Not saying Kansas is or isn’t the pick, but any perceived momentum or even crystal ball picks this week aren’t based on any actual information from the people making the decision.6 points -

I'm not saying there would be an article with quotes from the Langfords. That's kind of my whole point, this recruitment has been so close to the vest and even the people closest to Langford have said they have no idea, so I doubt this Kansas reporter does either. He's making a guess. If he had sourced info from the Kansas staff he would most certainly write an article saying "sources close the recruitment tell me Langford was waiting to see if Newman and Vick were going pro, and now is heavily leaning toward Kansas." That article would drive a TON of clicks, which is basically what his job is to do. Once again, I'm not saying whether Newman/Vick impacts Langford or not, we have no idea, just saying we shouldn't get all worked up over a few crystal ball picks going that way this week. My posts on this topic are more to the "darn, looks like Kansas has all the momentum" crowd.4 points -

If the decision to go to Kansas hinged on whether or not they could find a scholarship for him, then yes, it's a senseless discussion; they'd pull one out of the NCAA's arse if they had to. But because it's likely heavily based on the division of playing time, everyone can assume this clarifies things for Romeo as his decision looms. Everyone can also assume this is nothing but positive for Kansas. My point earlier is that some media sources and 90% of fans are presenting the situation as if the Langfords hadn't already evaluated this decision with the scenario of ample playing time at Kansas in mind. I think we can all agree they've done just that. It's not a shocking new development to Romeo that flips this situation on it's ear. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app4 points -

Absolutely, what we’re saying isn’t much different. Newman and Vick going pro might help Kansas, or it might not. We don’t know. I’m just saying a Kansas writer doesn’t either, and switching his crystal ball is no real indicator of anything.4 points -

But it’s not based on any actual information from the Langford’s. Nobody knows what impact that has on their decision making process. So something like changing a crystal ball because Newman and Vick went pro is a guess, not a change based on information from the recruit or anyone in his camp. Pits not from a reporter with sources saying he was told this was something Langford was waiting on, it’s a guess.4 points -
