BTW, this got lost in the shuffle since the site was down ... but I thought our old friend Pat Kraft did all right for himself and PSU in a coaching search that seemed to strike out a lot, and at times, got a little embarrassing. 

Matt Campbell is a solid hire for the Nits. 

Kiffin leaves Ole Miss -- AD says don't let door hit you in the arse and tell him there's no friggin' way he's coaching the team in the CFP. Campbell leaves Iowa State -- and the AD is in tears. Kinda gives you a sneak peek at the character of those two.

Pat’s leaked audio (talking to coaches and maybe a few players) was insane.  Dude was off the rails!  And he sure hates Oregon.  NSFW audio.

At least 7 schools (including teams with a 5-7 record) have turned down a Birmingham Bowl bid. Watching bowl season die before our eyes. Was a heck of a run.

No point in going. Any draftees aren’t likely to play. Neither are kids who are going to portal out. All those crap bowls cost programs money to attend, and that money can be better spent elsewhere in today’s arms race. And you get a chance to start preparing your own portal moves early.

How about Va Tech hiring Brent Pry, who they just fired as HC, as their new DC? He's a James Franklin guy so not totally shocking but don't think I've ever seen a move like that before.

If bowls die you will 100% see an expansion of the playoffs sooner than later.  Possibly up to 32 teams

This is just strange. NCAA says that you need 6 Div 1 wins to be bowl eligible. 5 win teams can play if there aren't enough 6 win teams. But this is not that. All of the butt-hurt teams that didn't make the playoffs are throwing their own special hissy fit and declining the bowl bids. The NCAA needs to grow a pair and force the issue (suspend their membership in the NCAA?) or fine the hell out of them ($1M or more).

If you think about it for awhile, do we really need a Birmingham Bowl? A few of these games that play at 2:30 on a Tuesday in a Walmart parking lot really need to go.
