Name ANY basketball program that has three players in the past two years who were denied admission. Not sure why you are bringing up Northwestern not being a top tier job. No one ever said it was. Your claim was that they cycle through coaches when factually they have had as stable of football/basketball coaching as anyone in the Big Ten in the past 24 years. I think your vision of Northwestern being a program that sees coaches leave often and can't get players in because of their academic standards is something that has long been changed. You miss the point that most questionable recruits don't even get the chance to apply. Howard obviously thought he could get some guys thru, and did not. Just proves my point that Michigan has lower admission standards for athletes (but I didn't say everyone gets in). As for Fitz and Collins, NW got very lucky with those guys. Both grew up in the Chicago area. Both young with kids. Collins kids are now out of the nest, will be interesting to see what happens if his success continues. I am not saying NW hasn't upped their game over the years -- they are paid good money, newish facilities, etc. Quote

Vacated wins are so stupid. They take away the victories but their opponents still lost. But we are supposed to believe these games never happened. Quote

LamarCheeks Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 Geez, first Northwestern -- now Minnesota. Though I've poked fun a little over the past couple of years, I'm starting to have a better appreciation for #LEO! Quote
Hovadipo Posted July 27, 2023 Author Posted July 27, 2023 There’s some real BS in that article. Coaches can say whatever they want to an AT to get a kid back on the field quicker, but no AT worth a s**t will give that more than a second of thought. So, either someone is lying or Minnesota’s sports medicine dept. is the real bad guy here. I don’t at all doubt that Fleck makes everyone clap for him when he enters a room though. Staff, players, or otherwise. lillurk and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Taulia already took off on Bama once, too. lillurk 1 Quote

Oh yeah, I forgot he was already an Alabama commit at one time. You couldn't pay me $1.5 mil to live at Auburn for a year either. Or anywhere in Mississippi. Quote

In my 20's I spent a lot of time on Alabama's campus, Auburn, Mississippi Valley State, Alcorn State, Jackson State, Delta State, Mississippi State (and other areas not in the deep south) . The point I had is...eff the deep south. Especially Mississippi Demo, Stuhoo, BtownStrength and 1 other 4 Quote

University of Richmond is the only campus I've been to that rivals the beauty of IU. Purdoo and NC State are the worst. Dartmouth had a cool vibe but full of clueless nerds. UC San Diego is the only place I ever thought I'd prefer over Bloomington. UC Irvine had a brewery in the Union building and gave me my own personal Stein. The Boll Weevels called me exotic and the University of Utah had the weirdest laws I've ever encountered. I helped put out a house fire at Middle Tennessee State. I've been to more campuses in America than I can remember But Auburn/Mississippi/Memphis is the worst. I'd have to think I'd turn down $1.5M to go there too. Dave from Dayton 1 Quote

That is interesting about Ole Miss, since I've heard/read that 'The Grove' is supposed to be super cool and the best tail-gating venue/experience in NCAA football. Not arguing with you, just hard to square Mississippi is comparable to Memphis! I equate the city of Memphis with Mogadishu, Somalia. Quote

Dave from Dayton Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Miami (of Ohio) is too formal...in the mode of Williamsburg VA. Wittenburg in Springfield OH is pretty. My wife says OSU is nice...I can't find anything nice about that place. Duke is alright. Rutgers sux. Princeton is a must visit...old buildings and lots of trees. Penn State is really pretty except for the mule skeleton on display in the union. Wisconsin has the best site I know for a Union Building...a multi-layered terrace overlooking Lake Mendota...you can sail boats from there...and I did. And grab a draft beer and take it to a table outside. And ice skate...and I did. And here is a picture of Bascom Hill towards State Street...Thanks to Leon Varijan (Student Body President UW '79) ..he was my wife's TA in a class at IU. I also like San Diego State since one can walk from classrooms directly outside all year long. U of FL in Gainsville is nice. The UT in Austin is great. The U of Arizona in Tuscon is really nice. IU - Bloomington is tops. Stuhoo 1 Quote
