I'm just not sure how much longer I can do this if ^^^that^^^ receives any reaction other than a judge laughing him out of a court room. I'm so thankful that this idiot 1) left and 2) didn't come back.

Oh for Chrissake, is that really the best you’ve got? With a couple of months of prep time you can’t lie better than that?

A couple months of prep time and…lawyers.

Baffling.

The judge deciding if Sorsby plays next year:

IMG_4252.jpeg

District judges live in their communities. Not all have integrity, but the ones who do put their professional responsibilities before their personal interests. This judge is a TTech alum for both undergrad and law school. His integrity will be tested.

I can tell you with zero hesitation that if I was the judge for Sorsby and Cig had signed him to be the starting QB at IU, my IU fandom would have zero impact on the decision. And I truly mean that.

Yea.  This will be a test.  I'm no lawyer, but the "asking for one more year of eligibility" cases we usually follow seem much more up for interpretation given how the NCAA applies subjective judgements themselves.  That plus other anti-trust laws and it sort of comes down to should we allow this kid to make the big money the school wants to pay him?  Usually it's yes.

Gambling on your team is different.  It's been much more cut and dry historically across college and pro sports.  We shall see...

It gets more and more disgusting and incredulous every day. My "takeaway"? is the bolded part in the quote. The worst part is that the local alum/fan/judge will most likely rule in his favor. The fix is in.

https://www.foxnews.com/outkick-sports/brendan-sorsbys-lawsuit-ncaa-dangerous-precedent-college-sports

"During his first football season, while on Indiana’s 'scout team,' Mr. Sorsby placed small bets—typically between $5 and $50—on the Indiana football team to win or for teammates to exceed expectations," the complaint reads. "He was not traveling with the team, and not privy to game plans; betting was his way of feeling connected to a team he could only watch from the sidelines.

"For clarity, he never bet on a game he played in or had a reasonable chance of playing in (he wasn’t playing in games at the time), and he never made any bets in a manner that could impact the outcome of any game or undermine the integrity of any game."

Gotta disagree - this doesn't bother me at all.

It's a defense motion to attempt to get him eligible and paid, and even the defense motion contains an admission of culpability. The defense attorney is working for either a contigency percentage of his Texas Tech earnings, or working at an hourly rate off of a retainer (more likely). People are absolutely entitled to advocate for their whims in court; they are not entitled to win in court. And if they lose? This effort will have a financial cost to either the attorney (if it's a contingency fee he will have blown time and effort on a losing lark) or Sorsby (if he paid a retainer).

And a good part of this? No allegations of any sort have occured that could in any way that I forsee effect the Indiana Football program because of his alleged misconduct.

What are they supposed to do? The Joliet Days Inn was at full occupancy.

Moot point.

Judge in Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby's lawsuit against NCAA recused himself. Judge Phillip Hays, a Lubbock native with two Tech degrees, didn't give a reason. Replacement to be picked by administrative judge with degrees from A&M and Baylor, but not Tech.
