BtownBanner6 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 No hard feelings from Troy.. I think he planned on staying in the draft anyway. There would be no reason for Troy to have hard feelings, there will be a spot for him next year if he wants it. ALASKA HOOSIER and MartintheMopMan 2 Quote
HoosierRob Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 I think the only problem is I don't really know how good Freddie is. Apparently he didn't come on until late in the year.. A wildcard I guess. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

MikeRoberts Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Welp, I hope this pans out. Not confident in a guy that hasn't played much basketball. Wish Crean had 4 years with him, would feel better about it, with only two, it might not be long enough to get the most out of him. We'll see Quote

MikeRoberts Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 This is where we differ. How are those two things not different? He can stay if he wants, sit at the end of the bench, get his degree etc. He can find a better basketball option, in the staffs opinion (and probably reality). Or he can get better and earn minutes. He's got three options. The "kid" has the power. It isn't like a 50 year old man (Tom Crean) is going to hold a grudge against a 19 year old "kid" (Tim Priller) if he has earned minutes and will help the team. It just isn't. Are you saying "it just isn't" at IU or in college basketball? There was a good article/video that came out a bit ago about an ex assistant that lifted the curtain on college basketball and it's happenings in regards to coaching/recruiting etc. I'm not basing my stance on that article but it is additional validation. In a nutshell, he said that if there was a player on the team that was not valuable and they had another recruit that they did value but needed that scholarship spot, they would go to all lengths to make sure the kid transferred. Step one was subtle, telling the kid that they didn't see him contributing and that they might find more time elsewhere. If that didn't work then they would tell them they suggest that he transfer. If that didn't work they would begin to ostracize the kid, etc etc. it's not just one simple conversation where everything goes back to normal or is hunky dory after the conversation whether they stay or go. And for another poster that said something to the effect of it happening all over te bigten and NCAA, that is true but I and a few other people crunched the numbers at one point and Crean was #1 in the bigten over a several year period. He's earned it and I can see why high school coaches are wary. Quote
Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 25, 2016 Popular Post Posted April 25, 2016 I'm not mad. Troy is gone. OG will try to fill his void. McSwain is an Athlete that will back OG up. If this is the best Crean thinks we can do to fill this void, so be it. This kid seems to be trying to be all class. I hope he comes in and dunks on fools all over the B1G Ten. A defender/Rebounder will be a welcomed addition I believe. Crimson and Cream, HoosierAloha, theriverpilot and 10 others 13 Quote

Kepner Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Michigan has been open about forcing players out lately. Same with Duke. Its hardly just a problem at IU. Quote
Stuhoo Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 He'll be the 10th/11th player in the rotation absent injuries. If he can fill that role with extra energy and athleticism, he'll be a good grab. Welcome to the starting lineup Mr. Oguagua Anunoby. HoosierAloha and Walking Boot of Doom 2 Quote
