(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy

Rivals polled their experts and all four had Garland going to Vanderbilt. The Commodores landing Shittu could start a domino effect and entice Darius and Romeo to commit.

That would be a massive kick to the balls. Getting swept by Vandy would be an ominous sign for Archie.

Pretty sure 3 of 4 had Waters picking IU

Bryce Drew is four years older than Archie and has never won an NCAA tournament game. He is not a better coach.

Yeah, and an even more ominous sign for Coach K, Roy Williams, Bill Self, John Calipari, etc., etc., etc.

What I’m saying is, it means nothing except we miss out on two top recruits for 2018. CAM has yet to even coach a game at Indiana.

Those coaches have already landed five stars in the 2018 class so missing out on Romeo and Darius is no big loss for them.

CAM has been the IU coach for less then 7 months, 6 months with a full staff. I would argue for a new coach after the recruiting class he was able to put together in such a short amount of time I would say that missing out on Romeo and Darius is no big loss for a staff that just recruited them in April but icing on the cake if one of them would come.

Guys get real.  I know it's our nature to worry as IU basketball fans, but step back and assess the situation.

Vanderbilt is not getting three 5* players in one class.  They've only gotten 1 in the past 10 years.  They're going to struggle to remain front-runners for Garland as it is, and they're not getting Romeo.

It's just sheer probability.

The optimist in me says we get one of Garland or Langford.

The realist says Langford goes to KU and Garland goes to Vanderbilt.

The pessimist in me says both commit to IU, we go crazy, then Calipari pulls an all-nighter and we wake up the next morning to find they're both Wildcats.

Quite true. I just want us to get to the level of a Duke, UK, Kansas, UNC. Heck, Vandy is on the verge of landing a top ten recruit in Drew's second season. Ridiculous.
I fully expect we knock it out of the park in 2019. We have to.

What do all those schools besides Vandy have in common? Regardless if anyone thinks those coaches cheat they are all HOF coaches that have been running their programs for along time. For IU to get back to that level is going to take a lot of time and winning. You have to get the 5 star coach in place and let them set their program up to succeed. Hopefully most on here can see the Bigger picture and if we miss out on those 2 not to freak out (lol yeah right). If CAM is the coach we think he can be then in time maybe IU can finds its way back to where some of us have seen it before. Lastly u said Vandy is on the verge of landing a top 10 class in Drew’s second year. On the verge is totally different than actually landing a top 10 class. I could argue IU is on the verge of landing a top 5 class in CAM’s first year. It might or might not happen. All of us on here want the same thing, IU in a position to compete with those schools u mentioned (minus Vandy) year in and year out

Agree with everything you said and we are in good shape for a top 5 class for 19 too.

We talking Brooks and Watford right? I've been on record saying these guys are must gets. TJD and Hurt are good too but the aforementioned two need to be at IU

Hurt is more important than Brooks or Watford. A) He's a better player. B) We have to win recruits based on relationships not who they are related to if we want to run with the big boys.

That being said if all 3 of those guys can coexist on the court Without their being team deficiencies I wouldn't be opposed.

I don't believe Hurt is more important than Brooks or Watford. Brooks is not only highly touted but in-state as well. That makes him the most important recruit in this class. I could see a case for being more important than Watford but I still don't think that. I do want Hurt as well though and it's realistic that IU could get all three of these recruits

Got dammit.

Is anyone else hearing Garland may not even make it to the IU visit?  Sounds like he may pop to Vandy any day now per another board.

Haven't seen any CB movement and typically there is when there is legit chatter. Also he is headed to a USA training camp in Colorado. I would think that is where his focus is. Vandy did just visit him too.

I highly doubt that. But Romeo is the more important recruit and he'll be at IU. So in the end, IU wins either way. It's just a question if it'll be just Romeo or Romeo and Garland
