I don't have any love for Vanderbilt, but I'm not sure what Coach Drew has done to be so hated other than going after some of the same kids. I've seen allegations that he is "dirty" but I haven't seen any evidence other than he is assembling a good recruiting class. I guess i question whether he is doing anything that we wouldn't expect our coach to do to get the best players available. If both schools weren't after Langford, would we care what Coach Drew was doing?

I really don't care about Vanderbilt...at all, and I don't hate Bryce Drew, BUT you gotta admit that it's kind of peculiar that a new coach at an SEC bottom feeder school, and coach who has no history of landing top recruits, and the school has no history of landing top recruits, has suddenly pulled in 2 5-star recruits, and potentially another one if they get Romeo.  That seems shady...don't you think?

Probably doesn't mean anything but I read on another board from someone "As close to the Garland's as it gets", the Garlands believe Romeo to IU. Same guy said last week that we'll be happy when Romeo announces.

It's hard to truly believe fan message board rumors.

The dreaded walking boot gets everyone eventually, coonhound! Basketball players and message board posters alike!

I don't have anything against Yogi personally, I just think he established some credibility so that when he posts in the manner he does ("I know"), it is taken more seriously. This thread is already off the rails as it is, but it'd be nice if there was some semblance of reliability to the board. I vented my frustrations about other posters' habits as well. Back in the day, I think 41, mdn, and others were more active in vetting "sourced" posters so there wasn't mass hysteria every time a Indiana Guy posted "Romeo to IU, trust me" or an ibm728 posted "It's over".

I hope you don't read into too much of what a lot of IU people say then. Every IU source was wrong about Garland and quite a few national guys as well up until the last two weeks. Other than that recruitment and supposedly a Billy D thing when I wasn't even writing and have no memory of but who knows who wasn't hearing things when it came to that, I've been right even if most is football and anyone that follows me off here knows how many recruitments I've been on for awhile and I've shared plenty from recruits themselves. I knew about Damezi, called him & Rob coming to HH as well which was a foregone conclusion for most but I did say it first from my direct interview with him and his dms are open he will tell you himself, I told everyone MONTHS ago Garland and Romeo wanted to play together and it was very real and I took loads of crap for it and now look. I'm not gonna name every instance I was right but that's enough. In recruiting you're wrong some and right some plain and simple dude. I don't mind getting bashed but this is getting annoying when you quote every post when I try to share things lol.
I've backed off sharing more than just general info honestly for awhile, because I don't want to get people's hopes up and take the fall if they go south it's recruiting. It happens. So I just share info that's neutral and try having regular conversations about them. Tim Langford has said he wants Romeo to be sure and once a decision is made they will make sure it's the right one. So yes if saying he will like 90% of kids makes a decision and then makes sure it's the right one by taking some time is that crazy of a "source" then I won't share things like that either. I've been coming here for years and have developed some friends off of here so I won't just stop coming here.

Keep posting it is appreciated! Thanks for sharing

We're all good, coonhounds. Just trying to do some fact checking to figure out what's what and who I can trust.

And I truly respect that. I wouldn't come here if it wasn't a trusted site for me. We have occasional posters that break through the cracks but things are simple for the most part. No hard feelings.

Given the context of the three five star kids it's plausibly legit. Now, if Vanderbilt suddenly becomes a destination for top ten recruits year after year, they will have my attention.

You mean where I asked if they were because a list of top schools that include Louisville, Kansas, and Vandy is highly suspect given the current events in college basketball? I was and continue to be slightly suspect of the recruitment because of these factors, but I also willingly believe the Langfords are a great family! I have no problem with you questioning my line of thought and the assumptions I make. I also don’t say, “I know this recruitment is shady, and the Langfords are taking bribes,” because I have zero evidence of that. Only context clues and questions.

Amen! You can be a great family and be a great kid and still get what fair market value is considered.

I'm with you here. I can't state it as fact but I'm a person that analyzes every clue when forming my 'opinions'.

It's only my 'opinion', but I also think I'm right.

I'm honestly wonder what the feeling is among the IU coaching staff. Do they feel like they are in an uphill battle because of Garland? I also wonder if they feel played by the Garlands. I definitely get the sense that some of the local Indiana sports media feel this way.

I wouldn’t blame the kids or families. If every school that makes sense for a kid is out there offering cash, and IU isn’t... well... I’d say odds are good we know what is going to happen.

I don’t want to end up seeming like a sore loser, but if Vandy does land him, I won’t be able to stop my suspicions.

Right. I don't blame the families at all. Heck, I don't even blame the schools in today's basketball landscape. That's also, why I'm not ruling Indiana out, because i don't know what Archie and staff are willing to do, but I know Crean wasn't going to land him.

On that note, Creans recruiting is so confusing to me. We were in the Mix with so many questionable recruits. SO MANY. We even landed 2-3 of them. What gives? Something doesn't add up. (Anyway, a topic for another time). Crean also had Kenny Johnson a known cheater and Chuck Martin (Thomas Bryant) who is with South Carolina (look at their recruiting recently) now.
