He does want to be a legend.. That's why IU has any lure at all to him. There's literally NO REASON for him to have us on his list other than that. I honestly have no idea what you're trying to prove all of this.

I just think Kansas involves too much sharing of the spotlight so to speak.  The Garland pull worries me.  IU offers 100% spotlight for him plus close for family and he would be loved.  He may be rooted for and liked at the other 2, but not loved like he would be here.  In the end it will come down to playing with buddies or straight up being the man 100%. What does he want more....

I can see where he's coming from with the "legend" stuff. If he goes to Kansas he's just going to be another one of their 5 star recruits they get each year. He'll be forgotten about by Kansas fans a few years after he leaves. Andrew Wiggins was a highly touted player for them but he's not going to be considered a "legend" by very many people. Vanderbilt fans are few and far between so I don't see him reaching legend status there unless they go on a deep tournament run. Being an Indiana kid, coming here would give him an opportunity to become an all-time great in the state.

By my way of thinking (which is likely totally different from any 18 year old), one very important factor for RL at IU would have to be Robert P..  Nationally he (RP) doesn't get any attention, but it's become very obvious that this kid is going to be a fantastic PG - just the thing an elite scoring SG like Romeo needs.  It appears that Garland is the type of player that is going to look to get his points, presumably Shittu the same.  Maybe I'm wrong and Phinesee will look to shoot more than facilitate, but I want to believe that's not the case.

Let me preface this with, who am I to tell a kid I've never met and know nothing about (other than he's good at basketball) where he should go to school. Langford should do this on whatever timeline suits him and choose wherever he wants. 

With that said, and through my IU-colored glasses, I don't see why IU shouldn't be the obvious choice?

Vandy is Vandy. I just don't get it. They have two other 5*'s which is appealing and apparently Garland and Langford are friends of some sort, but I just don't see the appeal beyond that. Bad arena, no fan support, terrible team, no tradition, unproven coach, etc., etc. 

Kansas is clearly really appealing. They're a blue blood with a successful coach, great facilities, an amazing fan base, the program has experience with 1 and 2 and done players, etc. But, they also have tons of talent to compete with for time/opportunity, and the big red flag is that the Langord's seem to want to avoid NCAA impropriety and while Kansas hasn't been accused of anything in the FBI case, they had a top ranked player suspended because of an investigation into the fact that he claims to own a Lamborghini. It's also not the first time they've had top recruits have to miss time because of NCAA issues. Self even had to skip a meeting with Langford to attend to Preston/investigation issue. 

Then you have IU. The clear negatives are a new coach who he's had to build a new relationship with, and a poor start to this season (though that should be expected to an extent with a new coach). Outside of that, you have tradition, potential for legendary, hometown status, a glaring hole at his position and for what his talent brings (wing/backcourt scorer), amazing facilities, amazing fanbase, a really strong recruiting class coming in, and potentially (if Morgan is back) a really strong, experienced returning cast with a leader (again Morgan) at a different position.

It just seems so clear to me that the fit is perfect. Caveat though, I am leaving out a lot of personal preference things like major he wants, preference over the type of school (country, city, etc.) he prefers, and those types of things which come into play.

Man this thread has really taken off lol. I've been a little busy of late, but Romeo waiting isn't a bad sign for IU. From everything I've heard, he is very focused on his senior season at New Albany and doesn't want many distractions as he wants the scoring title. He also isn't worried about the blow back if he was to choose anyone other than IU. I don't get why people keep saying that. That literally plays no factor. He is the villan in most away games anyways & New Albany loves him, so he knows he wouldn't lose much love regardless. 

I do know Juwan Morgan's emergence has been something he is happy about and has learned quite a but from our playing style with Archie. At one moment Vandy may have been the favorite and may still be, but they have definitely lost ground. They will be over the scholly limit so they can't get much more help if he plans to go there. Shittu's ACL is a topic of convo as well as Vandy losing the main pieces that have led to 7 wins. It would also mean Romeo has betrayed Adidas which isn't something he wants to do. As one of the first to say Garland was bringing him wherever he went, I don't see that as big of a draw as it once was either. The McDonalds game is gonna something to pay very close attention to. This thing is far from over and anyone other than Romeo and his family knows close to nothing when it comes to who he will choose.

Yogi good to see ya again man. It’s just how this recruitment is gonna go. It’s not often that a recruit sticks to his guns throughout the process. It shows his maturity level at a young age. One of the many reasons I want Romeo at IU so bad

Its mostly one person who constantly says he is vandys and he has no inside knowledge. Its almost as if he wants him to go to vandy.

Reading through this thread the last few days, I have to say....we have a whole lot of people who love to speculate.  Lots of odd guesses.  Some who think they know what AND why.  Some reasoned opinions.   And some clearly fabricated crap.   An impressive display!

What we do NOT have is anyone who knows anything.  Hell, boys...James Blackmon said he changed his mind 3 times walking on to the stage.  What makes anyone think he knows what Romeo's going to do?  Let alone WHY he's going to do it.  He'll go where he feels most comfortable.  Indiana is on the upswing, and he knows that.  The current team has very little talent, but it has some..and more coming.  Plus an experienced team coming back and a true point guard who he knows very well.   I have no idea why anyone would want to play basketball at Vanderbilt, simply because I hate where the teams have to sit there.  But Romeo will go where he can enjoy his college experience; work on his game; and where he feels like the best fit.  And none of us know that.  I would bet HE doesn't know yet.

That completely depends on what recruits are watching and what games they've seen.
