(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

No trouble just extremely busy with work, coaching 6th-grade basketball and officiating at a high school almost every night. As far as Romeo is concerned I have heard almost nothing. One tidbit last week but not sure if I believe it even though it was pro-IU. I hope he chooses IU but not sure if he even knows where he is going next year yet. With or without him I do think our roster is going to look a lot different next season.

Well... out of a 14 player roster (13 schollys + McBob, who has already said he'll be back), we are guaranteed to have a new player in place of:

  1. RoJo
  2. Newkirk
  3. Priller
  4. Freddie
  5. Collin
  6. CuJo spot

Add to that: the odds of losing at least one more player who doesn't see a prominent role going forward are quite high. That would leave us with approximately seven new faces in the 14 spots.

And that's okay!

Yes I think we will have a transfer or two or more, so we can bank a scholly or get a grad transfer to go along with Romeo & the other freshman :-)

From the Star and Romeo's quest for the state scoring record -

With 12 games (at most, with a state title run) left on the schedule after New Albany's win over Jennings County on Thursday, he'll need a robust 40.2 points per game to catch Damon Bailey, the state's all-time leading scorer.  If it's 11 games, thanks to a sectional bye, he'd need 43.8 points per.

If we end up banking one i would really like to give it to Mcroberts. What could be the harm. Hea gone after next year anyway

I'm assuming that since McBob has already said he'll be back next year, it is probably with a complete understanding that if a scholarship spot is open, it'll be his.

Yeah the ND thing isnt something to book a theory on, but it is nice. After talking to him I believe he has some Intel as he is more connected to this than some think, but it didn't come from the months of the Langfords so therefore it's not a done deal people. It's definitely a positive though.

Gonna be hard to do, but after last night who knows he got 63 so easily.

Or maybe McBob would rather them use the scholarship to go get someone else to help get to a final four. I'm sure McBob's family/older brother could cover him for one more year.

Who else could we possibly add to next years roster that would make a final four a real likelihood?

You never know what grad transfers will be available. Some of those guys can have a real impact.

I don't think any of them will have that kind of impact.   To even make a final four run more than a long shot we would need an NBA caliber player to transfer to us.

With the thought of Romeo coming to IU, hypothetically Reid Travis of Stanford was granted a 5th year. He is from Minnesota and Ostrom has Minny ties. If Reid decided to be a grad transfer he would be a top choice for many programs. He would have the grades This is just me thinking out loud. He might love Stanford at stay a 5th year or go pro but he would definitely make us better next year

Well that's false if we land Romeo. The reality is you never know what transfers will be available.

Oh i agree there will be. I just dont think any of them make us final four favorites.

Final Four favorites? No way. But a rotation that included Romeo, Morgan, Smith, Hunter,  a successful big whether it be Race, Jake, DeRon, or Moore, a successful guard whether it be Phinissee, Green, or Durham, and a high-end grad transfer or two makes us Final Four 'consideration-ish'.

A final four favorite starts the tournament with less than 15% to make it there most years. I am not sure I would say outside of one or two teams I would call any team a favorite. But South Carolina last year should show getting in the right bracket with the right teams falling anything is possible. I think we need at least another big and a Zeisloft personally. But hey, who knows?

Yeah i think we are two high level players along with Romeo away from that status. Need a big that works in our offense AND defense and a solid experienced PG to help us weather Phinisees freshmen year

I have no idea what Romeo is going to decide and neither does anyone else. If he goes to Vandy it'll be because he thinks it's the best opportunity for him, not because he's too scared to tell "Alpha Garland" no.
I hope after this recruitment is finished, I never see or hear the phrase "Alpha Dog" again!
