(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Yeah I was thinking more in general with top recruits.

The Kansas interest is... strange to me given everything we've heard about him wanting to be close to home. Either that wasn't as big of a deal as we thought, or, well... Ya know

All the Duke insiders picked us. I wonder if he told Duke that they were out because of distance.

Wasn't there talk about him growing up a Duke fan, it being his dream school, etc.? I seem to remember that but maybe I have him confused with someone else

There’s no way Langford or Kansas is dumb enough to be playing the money game. Not while all this cheating is going on.

FWIW, Bill Self made an in-home visit to the Langfords on Monday, and that's when the official visit was scheduled. The FBI news didn't break until Tuesday morning.

For those worried, be worried, but I fully trust Archie despite his big brother looking like a slimeball. Archie just has a different feel and like many coaches have said with these investigations, they all have a feel for who was dirty or not. I believe Archie ramping up on Romeo during all this, is going to be a factor and that Archie isn't worried of Romeo being involved. If he chooses us, I believe everything will be fine. Not being a sore loser but if he goes to KU being another Adidas school and coming out of nowhere to be neck and neck with us will be interesting to say the least. I feel like we get him or Darius or both so for now, I am in a great mood lol.

The car rumors worry me, but looks to be a fake account so.

Louisville dropping out gives me some hope, but I think Kansas is the sexy pick for Langford. They are coming in late to the party but it seems like there is a lot of momentum. Plus they are another blueblood, will probably end up winning the Big 12, making the dance, and he'll end up getting a lot of press and accolades coming from a school like Kansas. I have a feeling Indiana is going to end up spending resources and time chasing Langford and it's going to turn out like the Wilkes recruitment.. No facts. Just gut.

Yeah I've been thinking about this, too.  Yes, Romeo has some Adidas connections.  But you know what?  By all accounts he was down to the two schools that he is geographically closest to.  This is not the result of a bidding war.  And I don't think Pitino would have to bid for the kid that lives in town, and wants to stay in town, or at least close.

Add to that, Archie has garnered interest from a number of 5* recruits, but EVERY SINGLE ONE has some reason to look at the program.  Hurt has his buddy here.  Romeo is local.  Garland has IU connections.  Keion is local and his dad knows Schilling.  Watford's family knows/loves IU.  Any of these 5* guys that we showed interest in that didn't otherwise have interest in IU?  No longer interested.  We're not making runs at random OADs.

Kansas tracked right Romeo in April and July periods not sure where the coming out of nowhere is coming from. Rabjohns has stated since the end of July IU, Louisville, and Kansas were in good shape with North Carolina trying to make up ground. Just because some saying this was a 2 horse race doesn't make it true. Romeo just cut his list to 7 at end of August (note someone ran with a story that Duke was favorite and people needed to play catchup years ago. And they didn't even make the first cut). If you have been paying attention to what Tim Langford has been saying with the various outlets nothing has changed from their originally plan besides cutting Louisville. They will take their 4 official visits and 2 unofficials to the closer schools and decide in the spring. This is a recruitment of a top 5 kid, this was never going to be easy but CAM has put IU in position to be a real contender. As someone said last week it's good to see this staff get "into the ring" and willing to go 12 rounds in a recruiting battle unlike the previous staff that wouldn't get into the ring. Regardless if IU is 100 percent or 0 percent crystal ball, IU is in this one until the end

I'm worried about Romeo. Dad in charge of an AAU team, Romeo only considering Adidas schools, and Louisville's involvement in his recruitment. All reports indicate his family is holding everything close to the chest on his recruitment. I read that as a good family wanting privacy and protecting their son from parasites, but there's the other side to this as well; a family paid by Adidas through the AAU program who wisely don't open their mouths or their inner circle to anyone to protect their secret.

I also have trouble believing that Archie knew nothing about how recruiting worked as an assistant for his brother at Arizona. It doesn't appear that he's played the game while at Dayton or since arriving Indiana.

There are too many red flags in light of this FBI investigation for me to feel comfortable with the recruitment of Romeo Langford, but I hope that he and his family are part of that "20% of the top recruits" that Izzo cited as clean.

This is exactly where I'm at. The Romeo recruitment has red flags for sure. A family can look clean as a whistle on the outside, but you never really know what's going on behind the scenes.

I wonder how much he offered. Self is slimy.

Guys, I have absolutely NO worries about the Langford recruitment. It's really hard to explain to you guys unless you live here. This is a great family all around. I cannot say that I have seen a better young man represent his home, school and faith as Romeo has. Every story you hear is but good. Every story you read is but good. Never a negative. Sometimes in our day and age is is difficult to believe. I have witnessed his generosity myself. How he gives of his time for fans of any age but especially the younger kids. Sometimes I think it is too good to be true. His parents knew at a young age that he could become something special and wasted no time in raising him to be not an exceptional athlete, but an exceptional young man. Hope that he chooses us to prove it to.

I live down here and work with a mother of a student that goes to school with Romeo and have heard nothing different from what you say. Romeo is said to be a stellar person, student, and athlete.
