Prepare early for a meltdown!!!

Recommended Posts

For whatever reason, people think that only freshman can make great teams.

Don't get me wrong recruiting and top freshman are important to college basketball, but you are telling me that a starting five of either Robert Johnson or Newkirk at point, either JBJ (if he stays) or Newkirk at the two,  Collin Hartman at the three, Deron Davis at the four, and Thomas Bryant (if he stays) at the five doesn't excite you? Is it optimal? No, but still looks like a good team to me.

Additionally, we will have nice players like OG, Morgan, and Cujo in the holster. Plus, there is an opportunity to get another big time recruit or an Indiana kid that everyone seems to love so much. Relax people.

its essentially a one man class right now in terms of who can step in and play right away... That's not going to cut it when losing sooooo much

Thats where we expect players like OG, Morgan, and RoJo to take on bigger roles as they improve their games. IMO it's a lot different than 2013 where we had Yogi and Vonleh. We will have Bryant and maybe JBJ to go with RoJo, Newkirk, and DD. I agree we still need a solid contributor though. But it's not bleak.

I agree as long as the roster turnover does not continue. IF those guys stay and develop things will be fine.

We really shouldn't be surprised by the Brown miss. That is kinda the way our recruiting is going right now. Land a big fish then miss on a recruit even when it seems IU should be the obvious choice. I fully expect we round out this class with a couple kids we never heard of then MAYBE there is a slight chance we win the Rawle or Thon lottery in the spring.

I'm honestly not worried about JBJ leaving. Watching him play and I'm not sure how he is a first round pick, let alone a lottery pick where he probably wants to be. Unless he has a serious coming out party he should be back for another year. He'd be silly to leave if he doesn't breakout. But that's just my opinion. Still some guards out there. Just have to find em

Thats a HUGE if....

I don't think development of guards has been a huge issue under Crean. So that area doesn't scare me much I guess. He also has done very well with wings so I expect OG to be solid next year. I don't see us playing too many 3 guard sets though.

Not questioning guard development but can we minimize roster turnover on these guys we want to develop over 3-4 years?

i think we are in a better position due to type of kid and playing time available. I get why you are antsy on that though.

We have to land every target or we're screwed. Eron Gordon is a fine back-up option to me, I mean according to 247 the dude is a 4 star. Still after Alkins too.

Eron is a great option because if nothing else, then we can say the entire Gordon family played at IU. That's kind of cool.

Even cooler if our final Gordon is playing with our final Maker to make a double-family team.

Are people seriously thinking we're back to meltdown mode? Yeesh

Crean gets CuJo and Davis----Tom Crean Rocks!

Crean loses Kegler and Brown----Tom Crean Sucks!

Maybe we should change the name of this site from Btown Banners to Bipolar Banners!

Recruiting is fluid people---you don't get them ALL--- unless your name is Kentucky.

Way too early for any meltdowns. We are going to be fine.

I'm anti meltdown as well. When you say we will be fine, what does that mean? What's the standard for fine? I know what I think it means and we may or may not have the roster pieces to reach that. Still waiting to see if we can land some instant impact guys that will be needed.

This is where I stand. No meltdown yet as many things can happen. Who returns, who we continue to recruit, grad transfers, etc. But fine is very dependent. Say we have a final four type year and TB, JB, and Troy leave? Unlikely but possible. If so, we won't be fine.

I know Troy and JB will leave if draftable and I don't mean first round necessarily. I can't say for sure on Troy but I've been told JB will go pro if given the chance. I am not sure his parents will stop him either. I guess we will see.
