(2016) PF T.J. Leaf to UCLA

Recommended Posts

The point is the K knows in today's game you need outstanding talent. And outstanding talent tends to be freshman.

That's not really new to "today's game", you've always needed the talent.  Our championships with RMK, one of the best coaches ever, were all loaded.

Hmm I like us being included on that list. God we really need Davis to commit so we can assure him he can play the 3.

Starting to get my hopes up for a

Cujo
Rojo
Leaf
Davis
Bryant

Lineup.

.

This would be insane. I will say that we are a very real player for Thon Maker. Any one of Maker, Bridges, Leaf would make me extremely giddy.

You can have good college players not go to the NBA, and RMK certainly had his share of NBA players on those teams.

He had some players make it to the league but not in the same vein as Coach K.  The game has changed.  Its much harder to have consistent success without top level talent.  You have a few elite coaches that do it.  But the game has changed, hence why coach K changed how he has approached team construction, he recognized it was happening and adjusted his behavior.

You make it sound like those title teams each only had 1 or 2 NBA players on them, and it's not true.  1976 had 6 future NBA draft picks, 1981 had 5, 1987 had 3.  Most of them were upperclassmen when they were drafted, sure, but RMK certainly had his fair share of NBA players on those teams.

Yeah, and they weren't purchased.

well, for all you know. I don't know that Knight ever gave any recruit or commit monetary gifts but I do know that recruits and players did receive impermissible gifts like gift cards, cash, gas, food, drinks etc by fans and friends of the program. For as much as knight might have tried to follow the rules, things happened on his watch. Kills me to hear IU fans tout the holier than attitude when we aren't squeaky clean either

No program is 100% clean.

Leaf is visiting on Sep 10th. It's from Albers, so it may actually be October or November 10th.

Note: Still having trouble linking tweets to the site.

So this is in addition to the in home visit right?

You should probably edit your post.  Leaf isn't visiting on Sep. 10, that's when Crean is visiting him.  This is the date of his in-home visit, there's no date for any possible official visit or anything yet.

I gotchu bruh.

@Justin_Albers: 2016 F T.J. Leaf told me he thinks he will take about 3 visits, and wait until the spring to make a decision. #iubb

Two visits scheduled.

@EvanDaniels: T.J. Leaf has official visits set with California for the weekend of October 23rd and UCLA the weekend of October 30th, he tells Scout.

I don't know why any kid would want to play for UCLA. They have the worst fan support of any traditional blue blood (not even close), and they have Steve Alford as coach. Steve Alford has done nothing in his long coaching career to make anyone think he's able to win or develop talent. There have been rumors that he actually bad mouths Crean and the Indiana program to recruits (that both IU and UCLA are both involved with.) The nerve of that guy! I'm not a Crean supporter by any stretch of the imagination but Crean is a FARRRRRRRR more accomplished coach than Alford. He's a joke and his program is a joke. He's riding a short wave. As soon as a few 5* Cali kids come there to play and realize that they were sold a mirage, not another will step foot on that campus.
