Thanks for update. Retracted 3 star coming? Lol. Just kidding. I have always worried about Recruiting HS kids that don't dominate in HS. Maybe just an off game. I know he shot lights out recently. Reason for concern though.

yeah just one game I haven't seen him enough to draw a conclusion. I was just hoping the one game I watched he would do good. Sasha has 17.

he just had a bad game regardless of being shadowed. The best players in high school frequently get doubled and tripled team for an entire game and still end up with good numbers. It was just a bad game from a good player. I would of liked it if he had a better game while I was watching but I won't draw a conclusion on his game from that one bad outing

It's hard and sometimes impossible to tell what a high school player will do on a college team if he's not dominating the ball on one end or a difference making defender on the other.   Trevon Blueitt was never a kid who dominated the ball.  Yogi did it for a couple of years with him, and Bryce Moore did it his last 2 years.  One time, I saw a team cover and double him for 24 minutes, and he had 2 points through 3 quarters.  Ended up with 14 because the team had to change plans and press, etc to get back in the game, but it can happen even to kids who lead a Big East team in scoring as a sophomore.

 

At Indiana, Gelon is never going to be the main threat or someone an opponent will specifically game plan to take away.  That's not who he is.  He's also not the kind of player who can consistently create or get open for himself.  Again, not who he is.  Crean (or whoever his coach is) will have to use him in a way that allows him to succeed within his skill set; and he's a very good option to come off screens and shoot.  That's true regardless of how he performs when a high school team sets a game plan to take him away.  That won't be a problem in college, and if it is, he's far better than any of us thought he'd be.

I only got to watch Bluiett one time, but I thought he dominated the ball quite a bit, he definitely dod the time I got to see him.

Bluiett was always a go to scoring threat even with yogi. I honestly thought he should of been mvp of team yogis senior year. Dominant. It's like miles bridges and CuJo this year. CuJo dominates ball and Bridges is first option. Yogi and Bluiett were like CuJo and Bridges. Grant appears to be a better shooting version of Hartman in HS. Hartman ended up being overshadowed on his HS team senior year as well. Too early to tell on GG if that'll be the case but he should try to learn to be more versatile if he is drawing defensive attention. Maybe he will.

I don't think anyone believes Gelon will be a stud.  Just want to make sure in my post above someone doesn't say I compared Blueitt to Gelon.  You never know around here.

I was worried about GG before USPS's comments something like if he weren't an IU recruit then he wouldn't have noticed the kid. Doesn't sound like a major D1 caliber type talent. But thanks for the updates. Much appreciated!

i just caught him on a bad night. I'm sure he will have games where he looks much better. Watching jaren Jackson from park Tudor was the same if I didn't follow recruiting, by his play that day I wouldn't of thought he was a high level recruit as well. They both had games to forget

Crown Point defeated Munster 53 - 38.  Gelon scored 17.  He shot 6-for-11, including 5-for-8 from 3-point range.
