Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession

Multiple incidents or not kicking a player off the team is really extreme for a misdemeanor.

There is a saying that I'm sure everyone has heard of it goes something like "fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice shame on me". There is nothing about a third time. DD had his second chance and blew it!!!

Lol.. Is crean suppose to get a sleeping bag and have sleepovers with the players? Devin is an adult and this is on him to make better decisions.. Amazing how everyone wants to blame crean for everything

To me what Devin has done is not on Crean. If Crean does not take the appropriate steps and severely disciplined Devin? Then THAT is on Crean.

I personally don't like the "every college student does it" argument. They need to understand that it is a privilege to get to be a part of the team. They are getting their college payed for and yet they still can't keep from making mistakes like this. I just wish they'd realize that they can't get away with everything some other students do because they are representing the university as athletes and are watched under a closer eye than other students. That being said, I hope this blows over as quickly as possible and the offseason goes by quickly so we can get back to watching games instead of having to hear about this.

This I completely agree with.

What's "chicken sh*t" about holding kids accountable? Hanner was there when it went down. What did he do to change the situation? Nada. Legally, he's an accomplice. It's way more than "guilt by association". It's being there.

"Guilt by association" would be where DD did something wrong and Hanner is blamed/included because he has associated with DD. What happened is that something went down and both DD and Hanner were present at the scene.

Has nothing to do with holding kids accountable. Zero.

Police might have been called 60 minutes before they arrived and perhaps Hanner arrived 7 minutes before they did...

Things rarely happen in a nice little linear sequence.

We care more than they do. That is a big part of the problem. Not every single one. But many of them.

We have to have a desire to win. A need to/must win mentality. Instead we have a, I wanna be cool, I wanna go pro, I wanna....... attitude.

That's why we don't win as many games as we should. Well that, and some of Crean's coaching. These type of things speak volumes to me about competitive desire.

I agree with the entire legalization of weed. I still smoke occasionally myself. That said, there are certain places that it will NEVER be tolerated. Some (if not most) jobs will not allow it (others don't test) and you OBVIOUSLY get tested as a college athlete. When you KNOW you will be tested..don't give yourself the opportunity to FAIL, that's STUPID. DD Is clearly ignorant to the rules of being a college athlete. That doesn't make him a bad person, nobody is perfect, but it makes him not worthy of throwing on the candy stripes anymore. As for Hanner, I would piss test him ASAP. I assume he is guilty and suspend him for the non conference schedule to prove a point about being in the wrong place, even if he is innocent of smoking (highly doubtful).

Despite the fact that it's a minimal amount of pot, it's illegal, it's against NCAA regulations, and this is a habitual problem for this group of guys. Failed drug tests (even for pot) IS a problem. Clearly either Crean is not doing his job of enlightening these guys, or these guys just don't care about anything but getting high. Kick somebody off the team, make them an example - especially after multiple offenses for this group in the past 2-3 years. Might make the next kid think about what he's doing.

Apparently we just have to agree to disagree.

Right now I say test the whole team weekly and make the results public knowledge.

Nope, just make them all run until they puke. Then do it again. And again. And again. Make it happen every morning at 5:00 am - spring, summer and fall. Eventually, some of those guys will start policing this crap internally and we won't have to read/talk about it any more.
