I want Tom Crean to stay

Recommended Posts

or he is in his 20's and he has never experienced Iu being the mighty.

I'm 28, not even a year old when we last won a national title and I was young for the Bailey/Cheaney/Henderson teams, and even I'm saying that lowering the bar for the sake of Tom Crean is a bad idea.  We have to hold ourselves to those expectations if we ever want to get back to that level, lower the bar once and you'll always find a reason to do it again.

I'm 22

how far have they fallen in your 22 years? Early 90's was the last consistent stretch this program had. In your 22 years our program is much more comparable to ND and Gonzaga then it would be to kentucky, kansas, North Carolina or even your dukies. That's a tough pill to swallow. I'm 37 and remember Iu being on their level. For our younger fans (and older) I hope we can get back to that level because college basketball is better when indiana is a powerhouse. Hopefully someone can get us back to constant success sooner rather then later

you comparing IU to Notre Dame several times suggests to some that you don't get it.

Never seen ND football fans compare their coaching situation to IUs

So, let's be clear. We, as IU fans, do not want to be compared with Notre Dame and Gonzaga, two teams in this year's elite 8 who each won their conference tourney?? Tow teams that are AP top 10 and won 35 and 32 games, respectively?? Are you sure?

Your statement holds water in 1985, not in 2015...

I would be all for Crean if during his coaching tenure here he would show some sort of willingness to adapt and change. When it comes down as stubborn as Knight was, he adapted to the players he had a lot as well. This year we lost 10 out of the last 15 and it wasn't until the Big Ten tournament that he decided to run some man to man and then the next game he went back to his terrible zone. The same thing happened all last year when Vonleh was here. He refused to change his game plan and execution. He just kept trying to do the same thing. I think getting Bryant will definitely help us out, but in the long run we have seen Crean's game plan and everyone knows what he is going to do. This last offseason all he did was preach how we were going to outrun teams, and that barely happened. For parts of games we would do that, then we would let up. I just have no hope for next year because he hasnt showed any initiative  to change or adapt even when its obvious that he needs to

Did anyone see Calipari switch to a full court press with 5:45 remaining and being down?

Switched momentum. Boosted confidence of his team. Impulsive in game decision based on momentum and Notre Dame being in a groove. Also the timeout to set up the Ulis open 3, which was the biggest play of the game.

I must have misplaced my fan card. I wasn't in NOLA for the Smart shot, but I watched it on my black and white TV! Is that enough credentials to post here?

All I'm saying is I want Crean to stay. It's just my opinion.

That game was unbelievable you have to give Notre Dame credit for hanging around with them.

and I want Iu to be a powerhouse again and I don't care who gets us back to that level ( as long as it's clean). Crean, Marshall, Donavan. That's just my opinion. if u want to watch the Iu 87 championship tourney run ( in color instead of black and white) let me know I have all 6 games on vhs tape

There may be a reason the # of Crean Haters are so high to create a mob? It's not like we decided to join forces at a Sunday brunch.

It's not just here either. Every fan site, Twiitter, Facebook, etc...

His actions and results have created this. It's not the fans fault as some like to think.

I find the characterization of those ready for a change as "groupthink" or "mob mentality" a bit insulting.  I know there are several on here, like me, that were anything but Crean detractors up until this season.  There comes a point when you've seen enough to know that the status quo ain't working and is unlikely to improve - particularly when you consider that the problems/complaints we have today are the same ones that the MU fans had when he left there.

I really believe that the meager expectations we have for the football team have lowered them for the basketball team.  I believe Fred is a prime example of this.

As someone stated earlier, you have to give it to Kentucky - they have lofty expectations and they did/do what it takes to meet them.  We should be the same way (as long as it's within the rules.)

I agee 100%. ND played hard and didn't back down. I think Grant tried to do too much on his own down the stretch, but they were right there.

Hard to believe ND lost to 10 or 11 seeds the last 4 tourneys, with 3 first round losses. I bet they are glad they didn't can him.

Zach Auguste had a game last night.

What bothers me is that you have a team that was ranked #1 which by the way had 2 top 5 NBA draft picks and we couldn't win the whole thing with what we had. I still don't get it to this day :scratchhead:

because in a single elimination tournament anything can happen. March madness is the greatest sporting event in my opinion but it doesn't always crown the best team as champion. The nba champion is always the best team in the nba because their champion is decided by a 7 game series
