swatford Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 No Penn State #'s? There really has to be some logical explanation why our recruiting costs are so relatively high. Maybe because we brought in ton of Freshmen this year? Quote

IU Hoosier41 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 That recruiting budget compared to our results is so laughable. O$U gets that talent for a quarter of the cost. This is infuriating to me. We pay top dollar and get middle of the pack results. How can anyone be happy with our results???? Just to explain this a bit more. The recruiting dollars are normally budgeted how much you can spend. If Ohio state were budgeted for 800,000 you can damn well bet they'd be much closer to 800,000. I hate seeing those spend numbers because it's all relative to the budget they are given. Basically Crean does not need to spend all that but he does cus he has it. Quote
Popular Post LIHoosier Posted March 24, 2015 Popular Post Posted March 24, 2015 These #s are missing Northwestern, Penn State, and Wisconsin. Not sure why? NW is private, they won't divulge financials. Penn St pays Chambers $1 for every patron at Bryce Jordan(not much). As for Wisconsin, Bo just takes everyone's Christmas presents. mdiu28, MemphisHoosier, WayneFleekHoosier and 5 others 8 Quote

I'd expect top 5-10 classes annually if you are going to spend that amount. If not, stop wasting the extra. Bankroll it. MikeRoberts 1 Quote

Walking Boot of Doom Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 So we spent that much for a recruiting class of 2 basically unranked recruits... No. It's a 3-4 year investment. What was spent this year was used to recruit kids for 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 So we spent that much for a recruiting class of 2 basically unranked recruits... Too much airplane expense flying all over the US to repeatedly watch recruits we'll never get. There are more than enough quality basketball players in IN and the surrounding states. Small towns like to say 'Shop Local' and I think that's what we should be doing more of in our recruiting. HoosierAloha 1 Quote

If recruiting just the state was a reliable recruiting strategy, no one in Indiana would be spending money to recruit elsewhere. This state is poached left and right by outsiders, and does not produce enough players to continually fill all recruiting needs. Crean has done a pretty good job of landing quality in state players. He's also missed on a handful of great players as well. If we want to be competitive, we need to recruit the best talent out there, and explore all recruiting options. Plus, if our program generates $25+ million in profit a year, $800k to obtain the players that drive the profit is an excellent investment. Josh and thebigweave 2 Quote

HoosierTrav Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 You can link.. A Brief Summary: *Guy that claims to have a reliable source makes claims that 1.) Archie Miller has reached out and said that if there is a vacancy, he would like to have consideration. 2.) See #1 and replace Miller with Marshall 3.) Brad Stevens has spoken with IU and has interest in the position but was weary about breaking his current contract. 4.) If Crean is going to go, it will have to happen on his own accord. Glass is not moving unless Crean does. This pretty much sums it up. The guy did say that this could all be Bologna but that the source was someone he trusted and has always been spot on in other rumor mill predictions. One thing is for certain... Quite a few people are going to forever earn or lose credibility with me and many other Hoosier fans. I'm speaking of the ones who confidently claim to know what's happening. We shall find out who really is in the know. IlStateLineHoosier, ThompsonHoosier and Hovadipo 3 Quote
