IU vs. MSU Postgame

Recommended Posts

Im tired of Dakich. He's grown on me a little bit more lately but if you listen to him call and IU vs. calling any other two teams, you can hear the difference. There is something, a little bitterness there, when he calls IUs games

I'm not sure if it's bitterness. I think it's just his planet-sized ego. He knows how things were when he played here and he just seems above it all.

I don't see/hear bitterness from DD at all. He sounds like a proud Hoosier who is tired of seeing a crap product.

I concur. I personally like Dakich. He hates seeing crappy basketball no matter who is playing. Loves to see the good. Just so happens that a lot of our games that he calls it seems like we crap the bed.

I wrote this in another thread earlier but I just would like to repeat myself because this game changes nothing in my mind.

Are we as fans ok with being in the top 5 of the Big 10 and making the tourney every 2.5 years?

If so, no change needed. That's really the bottom line.

No I understand that, but it takes a lot to actually get any praise from him. Its hard for me to explain typing it out but there are a lot of calls that should've gone Indiana's way and he seems to side with the opposition most of the time. He just seems to call Indiana's players out on a more personal level than on other teams. Not a big deal but its there if you listen haha

Sometimes I think it seems like that because he doesn't want to seem like an IU homer so he tries to give the opposite team a little more favor.

I don't know for sure that's just my take on it.

No I think you hit the nail on the head. He doesn't want to seem like a homer so he tends to side with the opposing team often

is 7 years not enough to prove "feel" for game, substitutions, Xs and Os?

None of those things needed proving. He's a proven coach. That can't be argued. His coaching ability has been demonstrated...

His fate is determined by results, bottom line.

He's had four teams with a "normal" roster. Likely 3/4 NCAAs, two S16, a B1G title. Is that really mediocrity? IU better be careful. It could be a LOT worse than Tom Crean.

Thats what I said all year last year and all this year. Dakich said it over and over again during the game. Why can't we try to press earlier in the game? Michigan St couldnt handle it when we pressed and played pressure D

Been calling for us to do that all year. Not even an intense press, but something that knocks 10 seconds off until they can get their offense set. This defense needs all the help they can get.

Im not justifying anything. Did I mentioned Creans name in my post…NO! Don't put words in my mouth (my post)
Im just saying last year and this year we were expected to be bad then people act surprised when we are a bad team. Granted this year IU came out like gang busters. Im not a Crean supporter but we can't all of a sudden pretend that we were supposed to win the Big Ten or something. Thats just ludicrous.

sorry I was not meaning you but the point u made about where iu was predicted to be in bigten is being used by media to justify crean. I just read an article by Ben smith in Fort Wayne paper saying this season has been good because we were predicted to be bad but somehow we surpassed that. I just think it's sad that we as fans have to settle for this crap.

Yeah I agree with you. Enough is enough

i disagree with the first paragraph. He's not demonstrated those things. He's demonstrated the ability to get Great players that can win just enough games.

Let's complain all day about Crean running his team ragged... But let's press!!

Do you guys see where I'm coming from with the cognitive blocks of IU fans? It's like Pavlov's dogs... Crean subs, it must have changed the course of the game and Indiana basketball history! Oh the humanity!

Maybe run them a little less ragged during practice, especially towards the end of the season, and spend a little more energy during the game?

You would at least agree the team hasn't showed enough fight the last month or so right?

all I have seen him prove is he can get his players to somehow play down to his coaching ability. I didn't know that someone else was putting the roster together and making him coach them. Last I knew he picked this roster so this is the normal roster u will get from crean. I would love for him to go somewhere else and prove us wrong. I'm ready for anyone to get a chance. How hard will it be for another coach to come in and do what he has done for seven years. I don't think hard at all. I would rather find a new leader then keep banging our heads against the same wall day after day
