Crean Against the World

Recommended Posts

When has Crean ever been coach of the year?

2012 ESPN.com (I know they don't count because Cody Zeller)

13. Indiana: The Hoosiers are in the Sweet 16 for the first time in a decade thanks to Will Sheehey's big shot against VCU. Indiana is one of just two teams to defeat Kentucky this season -- remember Christian Watford's buzzer-beater? -- but things will be much tougher on a neutral court. Indiana is also without guard Verdell Jones III, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Big Ten tournament. Whatever happens against the Wildcats, Tom Crean (ESPN.com's National Coach of the Year) has done a phenomenal job with this team.

Not only can you not count seasons when he has had big time players, you can't judge Coach without evaluating his performance during seasons when Indiana was playing baseball players and student managers. Remember, no excuses! A true coach would have had those boys playing winning ball.

I wouldn't feel so negative if we wouldn't have lost to OSU by 12, and then backed that up with that fluster cluck.

Welcome to life on the road in the Big Ten conference. How negative were you after winning close games against Nebraska (where no one else has won this year) and Illinois (where no one else has won this year)?

Indiana has four left on the road: two are going to be tough, and two are very winnable games. 6 home games remain featuring Rutgers, Michigan, Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa, and MSU. 6 very winnable games. Is Indiana likely to win all 8 of those? Probably not. But it just shows that we came out of the tough part of our schedule with a very respectable position. We are in position to get in position to challenge UW. IU has to grow now.

Of course, the tired he made Dwayne Wade what he is today reference. I knew this was coming.

"Tired?"  Please show me the times Wade has been brought up by me or anyone else in the last two months.  While your thinking about that, here are a couple of examples of you praising Coach Tom Crean and then you come on here & go back to trashing him.

Easily Yogi's best game in an Indiana uniform. I'm really happy for the team and Crean. Indiana tied for the Big lead; things finally getting back to normal. The party must be on in Bloomington; like they needed an excuse.

Crean working the refs! Love it.

Maryland looks gassed. Love the uptempo.

Best 2nd half start all year in the biggest game. I like it.

Here hopefully you can see that the Crean/Wade reference is not near as tired as your little emotional roller coaster ride where you're jumping on & off the wagon is entertaining.

That Maryland game was a feel good moment. I was very confident we'd win due to, mostly, home court but also the matchup.

Most people naturally want IU (first and foremost) to win and when Crean wins a game it's easy to get emotional and hopeful because we all want IU to be successful.

However, the preponderance of evidence suggests things are just OK at IU and are incapable of being perpetually elite under Crean. Hence, the roller coaster ride.

I myself have said Crean isn't the answer. But, most importantly, I want IU to win and if Crean can do it on a high enough level I'll be happy to be dead wrong on this subject.

Evidence to me, suggests he can't.

From the uncalled for comments and general disrespect Tom had for Fisch and Suhr to his constant "you don't get it" attitude in his post-game pressers, I'm at a loss. Tom, we all get you're the coach and it's not easy to answer questions after an ass kicking, but that's what you get paid millions of dollars to handle. I'm so sick of the post game pressers either deflecting blame to players or completely blowing off questions. If this is his attitude, he knows something everyone in Hoosier Nation does not and it's him against the world. This thread isn't about his in game coaching, but rather his inability to receive critique. Tom, you didn't have a game plan and if you did, explain what the hell you were thinking. Just answer the questions.

You know, honestly when I read this post I started thinking (scary I know.) we but up with Knights bad attitude and things. Didn't take me but just a few seconds to realize why Hoosier Nation put up with it and it's really simple. WIN! Yes I know, he done a lot more than win. Anyways, I really really don't want to turn this into another CTC bashing thread but it's super hard not too, I get that. I really don't care if we make the NCAA tournament, finish top 4 in the BIG (which I never thought we would.) yes even before the last 2 losses. Don't believe me? We'll go check out some of my recent posts. It's time guys! At seasons end Crean needs to be Creaned along with Glass. Even if it sets this program back 5 years. No need in prolonging the inevitable.

My vote goes to Tony Bennett! Which is who I really wanted when Crean was hired. I personally believe that Stevens is such a long shot. So there ya go! My 5 cents

It was reported the Bennett was offered the job at Indiana after Sampson. I'm under the impression he turned it down.

Tony Bennett's sister was the IU WBB head coach at the time we were looking for a new head coach. I wonder if she had told him "don't come here".

I don't think Stevens is as big of a long shot as people believe. Patino left a winning New York team after yr 3 that had Ewing to come coach CBB. The only reason I would think Stevens is a long shot is because our AD may or may not be incompetent.

I can relate to that yes it is for a lot of fans.  Its very similar to the Bears up here in my area losing to the arch rival Packers!
Heads roll when that happens.

I live in Green Bay, the Bears never beat the Packers. Bad example.
