So who's going to be the new Coach next year?

IU Losing to Eastern Washington is on the players and players only..Purdue's performance v KSU completely on the players..

He's right. Maybe our players should have tried growing taller and bigger so they could play the post.

ARE YOU GUYS EVEN TAKING THE HGH I GAVE YOU?!?!

I always laugh now when I see Steve Alford come up. It is always from people who complain about Crean's lack of postseason success, yet Alford is okay because he played here.

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THAN THAT HE PLAYED FOR BOB FREAKING KKKKKKKKNNNNNNNNNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHTTTTTTTTTTTT!

Alford's doing very well at UCLA these days. I doubt he's interested in coming back to Indiana.

...... He coached a team full of a bunch of another guys recruits. And they haven't played anyone worth anything this year...... at least we beat a semi-decent SMU team

when Crean took over we had walk-ons and low rated 3 star players, and we were the number 1 team in the country in his 5th year. How do you figure a coach who walks in to a team with a couple of Mcdonalds all americans and other highly rated kids with experience would need 5 years.

I don't know why people perpetuate this fallacy. When Crean took over he had a roster with some holes, but he continued to kick players off the team or have players leave. Yes, DD kicked some players off the week or two before Crean got here. He decided not to give some of those players another chance (unlike the multiple chances he is giving Hanner, Yogi, Troy, Stan, etc.).

Certainly it could be debated whether or not the kids from years ago or this pervious season and this season should be retained. However the point here is that Crean started his first season at IU with no returning scholarship players--in part (for good or bad)--because of the decisions he made.

I think the term "proven coach" has as many interpretations as interpreters.  What classifies a coach as being "proven?" Multiple Final Fours?  A successful rebuilding job?  Winning a national championship at the DIII level?

Personally, I find many of those measuring tools to be irrelevant.  The key is "fit."  Who understands Indiana basketball?  (Regardless if they played here.)  Who can connect to Indiana high school basketball and not come across as "creepy?"  Who can coach IU and make it THE destination for the imaginations of our youth in the state?  When the game is on the line, who's the coach that you have confidence will out-strategize the opposing coach?  Is it a coach that has won a national championship before?  If so, great!  But if the best candidate is an assistant at the DI level, then so be it.  I'm just not sure we will have people doing the coaching search, if and when that happens, who can figure this stuff out.

I firmly believe Crean isn't the guy.  His oversigning and roster turnover habits are unhealthy for the program's culture. (I don't care how it always "works out") He's demanding and unclear about expectations with people who are involved with the program and in the athletic department.  But bottom line- he isn't winning like he should at IU.  (This isn't considering all of the other off-the-court issues, as well.)

Yogi, JB2, Rojo, Z, Hartman wouldn't leave if Crean were fired.

I don't know about others. Stan, Troy, and Hanner would be biggest question marks.

That core plus whoever new coach brings in will be good.

I'm not worried about defections but the Linda Bryant quote says it all to me. Crean can't stay on, we've lost our recruiting edge.

Who would have called Knight a "proven coach" when he came here? There needs to be someone with knowledge and vision doing the next hire who can evaluate elite coaching talent wherever it may be found. I am not confident Glass is that person.

Older fans could obviously answer this better than me. But how was Knight's hiring seen? I don't really want to mind taking a risk on a lesser proven coach, though I get some fans issues with that.

I don't necessarily think Glass is the man to find the right coach either

I think I read once where the headline of the Bloomington paper after RMK's hiring was, "Bobby Who?"

Hoosier41 has ordered a online Xanax dispenser that will give all of you a automatic dose after a loss. Should help the bipolar crowd on this board, which seems to be the majority.

Xanax treats anxiety. Something like Lithium or Lexapro would be more suited for treating bipolar disorder.
