So who's going to be the new Coach next year?

Recommended Posts

True story about how old I am. I remember writing a check for like $5.25 for a small Mother Bears pizza delivered including a 2 liter Coke. Tip not included of course, but it could feed me and my girlfriend nicely after an evening of partying IU style. It was loaded with meat and cheese; just an awesome pizza. Certainly nothing we have down south. Pizza here consists of Pizza Hut and you know the rest. Not even a Pizza King.

So True.  I still make several trips per year to BTown for the good food.

My kids are now in high school and both are leaning towards going to IU----if so that will be a great excuse for me to visit even more!

I wonder if Bears Place still has $3.00 happy hour Long Island Ice Tea pitchers.

G_d bless it, I loved Bears Place $3.00 happy hour Long Island Ice Tea pitchers.

I don't remember those but do remember Bluebirds downtown where you'd could get $.10 pitchers for a couple of hours. Saw Mellencamp there on the down low and distinctly remember a dead head name Cubic puking in his empty pitcher waiting in line trying to beat the deadline for more cheap beer. Think he was tripping on psychadelics too as he kind of waved his puke covered hand in the air. Also, just for other great Bluebird memories, one boy couldn't wait his turn for the urinal and just used an empty pitcher. Top drawer education at Indiana!

I vote for Bill Laimbeer.

I AM READY TO KNEECAP THE OPPOSITION...and win

Oh, is Diane Rawlinson available?

That's a pretty dated reference, but people still get it right?

Factually inaccurate about it being the best pizza. Coal-fired NY pizza is the best pizza, I've lived across the country and haven't found an adequate substitute. Worst part about leaving the East Coast.

It is the best pizza for hundreds and hundreds of miles though.

Seems like you have a lot of "grass" on your mind rebel. You been showin' Stan love?

As chief optimist here in charge of keeping the rest of us sane, how far into the season/what kind of losses would you look for before starting a behind the scenes coach search this year?

I think we all agree that we would prefer a managed transfer of the team to a new coach who is hired before anything is announced, not a period of coachlessness, so the wheels have to start turning before the spring. I'm just curious what it would take to get you turning them.

Not into that kind of grass.

We will know at the halfway point of BigTen----but the last part of our Big Ten schedule is softer so that could throw a curve into the equation.  If I was in charge---and things go south by mid point of Big Ten---then I am on the phone and out shaking the bushes. But it has to be a triple or a homerun hire---not a single or double or we might as well hold until the homerun is available.

As I consider this, it is not only CTC buyout cost, but possibly buying out the new coachs' contract. So, I think finding a up and comer may be the best option. One who is a winner on court but in conducting a clean program. One who has shown a nose for good recruiting, even if he dors not get the numbet 1 option, but finds jewels. This is where Marshall and Shaka fall. Donlon at Wright St. Miller at Dayton. Just some thoughts, I advocate none of these at this point.

Hairy Bears? Those are $7. And disgusting. But are absolutely loaded with alcohol.

had a pretty remarkable night that started with 3 hairy bears each amongst friends (Jeff Newton and George Leach), ended in fire extinguisher tag just off Kirkwood... after a comedy caravan. The opening overweight house comedian (Brad, maybe) and Ron White, would've been proud.

How many Hairy Bears would it take to buy out CTC?  lol

3 Hairy Bears and you can convince someone to do a lot of really stupid things, such as backing out of a $7.5 million contract.

I'm not sure who/where to make the donation but if they keep playing the way they did the other night...I'll be the big secret donor!
Not sure what the Hairy Bear cost but sign me up for buying all three of the damn things!

Don't listen that guy Stu! Some of my favorite nights began with a Hairy Bear! Although, some of my worst nights started with two...

Haha he brought it up himself not me!

But you are absolutely spot on. 1 hairy bear is a great start to the night. 2 or 3 of those things and you're well on your way to being "that guy."
