AKHoosier Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Wisconsin is going to regret not opening up their coaching search to outside applicants. They could have done a lot better than Greg Gard, and they're going to feel it. All he did was win with Bo's players playing Bo's system, but now that most of those guys are trickling out, he's getting exposed. Quote

I think their AD could have found a good replacement. Since the turn of the century I've viewed their athletic department as the complete opposite of ours. When they have to hire a coach for a mainstream sport, they usually get it right, and we usually get it wrong. It seems like every time we change coaches we end up talking about how the current coach has to clean up the mess his predecessor left behind. Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Oh, and so much for WKU being a "good loss" for Purdue. Quote

Wisconsin didn't have much choice at that point and Gard had the team finish strong that year if I remember correctly. Not much the AD could have done at the time. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 From the NCAA on men's basketball transfers which has become almost an epidemic. 2 key points mentioned: 1) 40% of all MBB players who enter Division I directly out of high school depart their initial school by the end of their sophomore year. 2) Generally, close to 90% of all MBB transfers say they leave for athletic reasons. Absent proper academic planning, many of these SAs lose credits upon transfer and register lower Academic Progress Rates (APRs) and graduation rates at their new schools than seen among non-transfers. www.ncaa.org/about/resources/research/tracking-transfer-division-i-men-s-basketball?sf176416845=1 Stromboli, HoosierAloha, MemphisHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 NCAA finally puts the hammer down on UNC for academic violations. Get over your euphoria because it's not the University of No Classes but the University of Northern Colorado. The cases aren't identical but IMO it reinforces that ol' Roy got away with grand larceny. http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/northern-colorado-basketball-staff-violated-academic-fraud-recruiting-rules?sf176438658=1 ALASKA HOOSIER, HoosierAloha and IUsafety 3 Quote
