Between this and the transfer eligibility stuff, the B1G and SEC should break away from the NCAA immediately. Bring the Big 12 and ACC. Invite the Big East and midmajors for the basketball tourney.

NCAA is just intent on screwing everything up and grabbing every last red cent until the inevitable happens anyways. Crapping on the basketball tourney should be the final straw.

They added eight pretty crappy games that will barely move the needle on the media deal.  Pointless move.

I don’t know what their media rights deal is but I’m sure they want to auction it off to Amazon or Apple or something. They’re the most tone deaf org in the world.

Stokes to KU.

Pope can’t close another one

Kentucky is at 11 players, and the only three guards on the roster are Zoom Diallo - talented but inconsistent and bad outside shooting portaller from U Washington, a three star true freshman, and a zero star true freshman who is the son of one of their new assistants.

Willy Waders at LSU currently has a roster of exactly one player.

Did you read about that deal? Apparently he signed his NIL commitment paperwork with KU the day before his UK visit and took the visit just to troll them. So, basically, the Dylan Harper/IU move. I’m down with UK being punked as much as the next guy but that kid’s an a$$hole and there’s a reason he’s been at a million schools.

I would feel sorry for Self, but I absolutely don’t.  From a Karma perspective he has a negative balance.

Stokes is gonna make Petersen look like a model collegiate athlete. Self’s heart may finally explode.

This is pretty wild. Don’t know anything about him other than he’s supposedly an uberprospect, but playing a full year at the absolute highest level of CBB as a 17yo seems a little nuts, though Quaintance did it at ASU and held up.

He won't be eligible for the NBA draft next year so seems like he's on a 2-year plan at least with Duke. UNC was also in on this kid and they just got Keita. UNC is going after Momo Faye too. Pretty wild stuff.

Wild indeed. You’re gonna have 24yo Euros playing against 17yo Euros on American college campuses.

An important reason why in the current state of affairs college football is so much better. Football players still get NIL, but there is little/no potential for professional 24 year olds joining the fray.

Duke is unbelievably loaded this year.  An absolute crazy roster.  I don’t see how a lot of these guys get the minutes they expect.  But they’ll be well compensated.  And I guess that’s enough. Incredible depth.

Which leads me to wonder why we are always fussing about where player minutes are going to come from?  Most kids these days don't have the drive to play extended minutes night in and night out, especially in the Big.  We should have a quality back up for each of our bigs.

Yup. As ridiculous as this sounds I’ll be interested to see how many more seasons of not winning Nattys with these absurd rosters Scheyer gets before he starts getting side eyed a little bit by the Duke money people, though as long as K’s alive he’s got total security.

This has been my take all along.  If the money is right, you can get who you want, to a certain degree.

They signed a deal with Amazon Prime also.  Crazy times.

I sure hope something is in the works...the silence is defining...Alexis would be awesome and make sense if 5/5 is granted

UConn is 9 deep now and their fans are currently arguing about whether they just need a back up 4 or if they should try to get Luigi Suigo (a few rumors they're trying to get involved, not much credible though).

Some don't want to risk Hines or Giltay leaving. Most recognize that you need to stack as much talent as possible in this environment. They're jealous of the money UM and Duke are spending.

The One Vision Futures Fund seems to be Duke's NIL differentiator. An interesting topic to look into if you're feeling morbidly curious about the direction of travel for college sports.
