Evansvilles recent slide is making that win at Rupp even worse. Now a quad 4 loss for the Wildcats. It may have become quad 4 awhile ago but I just noticed.

And it’s likely not going to recover.

Not with their coach being on leave for sexual misconduct allegations. That’s a bad, bad loss.

I’ve never seen a college basketball season where basically every team is so flaky. The impact of kids leaving earlier and earlier is tearing its ugly head. Hell look at Virginia. Kyle Guy definitely should have stayed. Jerome probably as well. They are not good at offense. Still a strong defensive team. Losing to Cuse this season isn’t good. And it’s a team they destroyed to begin the season on the road.

Garland the hometown kid who lived 5 mins from Vandy’s campus

That’s his name. Thanks. I understand it was close to home for him, but just comparing the two programs it does make you scratch your head and wonder about what else may have been involved to gain his commitment. I feel like IU has been “one more signing away” from having an elite lineup recently. Case in point, Garland and Romeo, or TJD and Keion Brooks. We can’t seem to stack the five stars in overlapping or simultaneous classes, which I think makes a difference when you don’t have a breakout development junior/senior. Now it looks like we may finally get a 5-star to stay another year (TJD), and we didn’t land an instant impact freshman to join him and help turn the corner from fringe Top 25 to Top 10. Just my opinion. I know some prefer the 3-4 star development model of recruiting. Not being negative, but seems like we are always “one more playmaker away” for the past 6-7 seasons.

Ha. Fair enough. Is the Lander speculation fan-optimism, or is there a real chance of that happening outside the obvious wishful thinking from us trying to will it into reality?

From what I’ve seen it’s just speculation. I don’t think he will reclassify.

Yeah, no info whatsoever to support my feeling, but I’ve felt like the reclass of Lander has been a theory conjures by us fans who desperately want an impact player in the class next year. My concern is that the cycle continues; we get TJD for another year, but then he leaves before we bring in another top 40 guy to join him and help us get over the hump. Then we lose Phinisee the following year and essentially waste our time with an elite upper classmen PG, sort of similar to Yogi’s senior year. Ugh. Why couldn’t TJD have come a year earlier when we had Ro and a senior Juwan? It’s like our timing is just always one year off from stacking our starting 5.

Sorry, didn’t mean to hi-jack the college b-ball thread with IU-centric discussion. On another note, does anyone really believe ‘Ol Roy’s claim that he “forgot to tell his team to foul” before Clemson hit that 3 to tie?? Come on man. He’s just saying that because it went in.
