He very well may.  I've said many times on here that you can't judge a guy by his first season or two.  See Roy who was a bubble team with 3 top 10 recruits his first season at UNC.  Or Marshall who was magnificent at Winthrop but took a couple years to get WSU going.  Or Pitino's first year at UL.  You get the drift.
Well holtman is in a world of hurt then because he set a pretty high bar his first year. They will expect 30 wins a year going forward.

Andy Katz on the Toiletmakers game tonight: "This game was as loud as I've ever heard in any arena in over two-plus decades of covering college basketball." ... Either a) like everybody tends to do, he got caught up in the moment; or b) he's never been in The Hall for a big game. ... I'm calling B.S. on that.

Is Purdue still putting microphones in front of their student section to project their noise over the PA system? Or maybe it's the black gloves...

That was absolutely terrible by the refs. I was waiting for them to bring the post game meal out to half court.

Crazy night of hoops with three top 10 teams losing at home. Great win by O$U. pu might drop 2 straight this week.

Has Holtman shown he can recruit at an elite level? Seems to me there are some coaches that can really recruit, some coaches that can really teach and a very few that can do both. They are household names. I'm confident Holtman can coach, but I'm not sure he's an elite recruiter....at least I hope not! Will be interesting to see how he does in a couple yrs with his own guys. Even next year without Bates and Tate might be a wake-up call. He's B1G CoY IMO, but I'm skeptical he'll maintain this level of success.
