Indiana Rivals predicts us to finish 9th next season

Recommended Posts

The Big Ten is going to be brutal next season and we are more than likely looking at another brutal season.

This, along with recruiting taking a nose dive, is why do many are upset and pessimistic. It's not just this past season, it's the overall future and direction of the program and how it is perceived by the media, AAU coaches and college basketball insiders.

By the way, this is not a Crean thread, it's a program thread.

I'm expecting something like finishing 6th or 7th in the conference. Lot is going to depend on the leap we see from Stan, Troy, and DD. All three were playing pretty well at the end of the season, but all have a ways to go in their individual games. Could see another good leap in Yogi's game, plus it should help that he will more than likely have a better roster surrounding him. Think by the end of the year we could see some real good things from JBJ, other freshmen don't know.

The defense next year scares the heck out of me, especially if Hanner is our top big man, he had a bad habit at getting out of position a lot defensively. Can't have that from our top big guy. Plus we could be seeing a lot of lineups with 3 guys that are 6'4" and smaller on the court, which is going to hurt the perimeter defense

Oh boo hoo.

What would you like me to say? I think the guy is clueless, so I'm going to say it.

You think Peegs is clueless?  That's the prediction he has on Rivals.

If you don't like the post actually address it, instead of a personal attack hit and run.  You did the exact same thing the other day, you didn't like the post and instead of just addressing it you resorted to an attack.  I don't see how you're allowed to repeatedly attack posters.

Having a young team does not equal a bad team or a sloppy team. UK starts 5 freshman and they are in the Final 4. Yes, many were highly touted, but where is the "leadership" on that team? I don't buy the "young team" excuse bc that is all it is. By the end of the year, these players aren't freshman anymore!!!

Agreed. Calipari and Beilein make it work.

Well they better b dead wrong or crean is gone. I also think they r yogi had made a great jump from freshman to sophomore I expect troy and devin to almost do same and stan to make the same leap. I think add shooting and get or dont get a big we will surprise everybody

Maybe I'm being an optimist but I see a top 5 finish.. Possibly the best backcourt in the big? Leaps from the freshmen .. Get a big and I think we'll be alright.. Maybe not an amazing year but an NCAA tourney year.. I could be wrong tho .. I'm no expert .. But I do agree coach will likely be gone if no ncaa for a 2nd straight year

I'm not sure there's any evidence at this point to argue this prediction.

Agreed.  There is upside if we get serviceable bigs.  I mean we are stacked at wings.  In between Yogi, Johnson, Blackmon, Stan, and Troy nobody beyond those 5 should see minutes 1-3 the whole season.  We could play some lineups with 4 of them on the court at the same time.  Extremely small, but I don't think we will have a choice.  If we get a big, we have upside.  We will see by the end of summer, but I would lean towards not very good at the moment.

I think we will be better next year than this season. Yogi didn't have much to work with this year, and had to play a role he isn't really suited for. I will give him credit for being a serious scoring threat this season. With that in his back pocket, and people that are also able to score along side him he should be able to pass more and find his easier as well.

We need a big for sure, but I am not giving up on Hanner as capable of filling that spot. I wish CTC would have given him more minutes, but I know he was second to Noah and also in a little trouble. He has improved and if he can keep his stuff together he can be useful next season if he keeps working hard and improving. The freshman (soon to be sophs) showed they can play some ball, so I think if they stay put in the gym they will be fine.

IU basketball team. Stay in the GYM!
