Romeo, like Cody, is a special case because it helps with recruiting momentum, particularly in-state. But our potential inability going forward to consistently land multiple 5* every year isn't necessarily indicative of our ability to compete with top teams. Ideally, four stars and the occasional five star to fill a gap will be best for consistency. 

Havins said all that, I think this will be a moot point within the next few years because it sounds like one-and-done is coming to an end.

This is the key in my mind. Indiana needs to win soon. Romeo will help that more than any other roster addition/subtraction possible (Juwan Morgan staying is nearest impact).

I was hoping somehow we could get Watford at IU with the Indiana recruits. There’s no guarantee Brooks is coming to IU.

What I’m saying is getting Romeo is #1a and keeping Juwan is 1b. The two biggest factors to us being good next season.

It may be reversed on the a and b. I think both arguments make sense.

If they pair up, I could see the tandem being very similar to Gordon and DJ White.

While I'm pretty sure Alabama is shady that doesn't mean the Watfords are also.Could be the kid just really likes them.
Might be why the family wonders why we backed off.
If when the smoke clears we're on the same page I think we all would be more than happy to have a legacy recruit like Trendon.Hope thats the case.

I think if everyone stops associating the implied willingness of a family to accept money and benefits being offered to them by almost every party they encounter with a lack of morality, we'll all be better for it. Is it against the NCAA rules? Yes. Is the NCAA clean and good? Meh. Does that make it acceptable? Well, no. Is it really hurting anyone? No.

Personally, if these families are being offered loads of cash or benefits in return for their sons making a school or shoe company a ton of money, I have no problem with the families accepting. I don't think it makes them better or worse people at all either.

AAU coaches and others in positions to manipulate others, not their child, accepting money... that feels much, much more deplorable.

A school, who receives protections and support in their "business" from the NCAA, should respect the rules of the NCAA. I hope that Indiana chooses to follow these rules, regardless of others' choices.
