str8baller Posted Monday at 01:12 AM Posted Monday at 01:12 AM I think we literally got the easiest and best draw we could’ve asked for if we’re trying to win a few for the tourney. FortWayneHoosier and RoadRage 2 Quote

Asha’man Posted Monday at 10:09 AM Posted Monday at 10:09 AM I think there will be a revenge factor vs NW. Then Purdue wins by double digits. Then the most important part of the year happens, portal season. Honestly, I’m ready to get there and won’t care if we lose the opening game. Quote

And I’m not sure we match up any better with UCLA. So potentially Purdue is the easier game with the added benefit of their metrics being much better. I think that would seal a tourney bid for us. I think in the past two weeks, UCLA has been rolling much better than Purdue. Maybe we get hot for this game if we can take care of business in round one. Question is, will two wins get us into the tournment? Quote

It could but it all depends on how everyone else does around the cut line and how many bid stealers there will be. All these other bubble teams get opportunities to improve their resume as well. Usually there are 2 bid stealers per year so teams should want to be better then 2nd to last team in heading into champ week. Unless there is total chaos during champ week likes couple years ago when there were 5 bid stealers and ISU got hosed Quote

History shows Usually anything after Friday but before then they matter. Only reason IU made it in during Woodys first year was because they beat Michigan and Illinois in the BTT. They swear up and down that every game up until selection Sunday matters however last year Michigan won the BTT and they remained a 5 seed when they probably should of moved up after some of the wins they had on Saturday and Sunday of that week Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

I’m not sure if they’ve necessarily discounted it, but there’s so much data in the bank by now that, normally, one or two games won’t change the metrics much unless a team makes a really big splash. This year seems a bit different to me, with 10-12 mediocre teams fighting for 3-4 spots, and none have accomplished much lately, the 3-4 that win an extra game or 2 will make the difference. I don’t use the WAB metric for anything so I don’t know it very well. But from my brief look at it a win over Purdue would be like 3x as valuable as a win over UCLA. With other teams also getting a chance to add good wins, I’d rather take the metric bump of beating Purdue than any perceived advantage of playing UCLA, of which I’m not sure there are any. NW should be an easy game. Purdue is the most valuable/easiest team on that seed line we could’ve drawn (and if we get UCLA we have already beat them), and then Nebraska as the 2 seed. Nebraska is literally the only team out of the top 4 we could possibly beat. I honestly don’t think things could’ve lined up any better for us. HoosierCoop, Uspshoosier, taco corp and 1 other 4 Quote

Northwestern is playing really well lately (for Northwestern). They've won three of their last five, with both losses by less than five points. Needless to say, we should beat them, but they are no cakewalk. Here's to hoping that their starters have to play 35+ minutes against PSU. HoosierCoop 1 Quote
Jeff Flabjohns Posted Monday at 03:53 PM Posted Monday at 03:53 PM I’ll be in attendance for the likely win-and-in vs Purdue. Have to win Wednesday first. Had purchased tickets weeks ago for this session and was hoping to NOT have to watch us up close again. We’ve been blown out the last two neutral site games I went to. Man, I despise watching this team. Ugh Quote

TheWatShot Posted Monday at 04:35 PM Posted Monday at 04:35 PM I doubt we beat Northwestern. Collins has our number and we look like a team that's ready for its season to end. Even if we win, it will likely be another grind that makes watching it feel like more of a chore than a pleasure. ziggyiu, IU Prof and skhoosier2 3 Quote
