They were on the floor together to start the year and everybody lost their collective minds. It wasn’t until Reneau got hurt and missed some games that they platooned upon his return.

Actually I love it. Crean them all & then hire Crean in any capacity you can (including HC)

One other thing that bothered me about this roster was how many guys we brought on that were injured. Dorn missed a lot of time and the other 2 guys (not even worth looking them up) never got off “IR”. 2 international kids that are projects. This roster had no hope. 

I am always hopeful when it comes to IU but I am not optimistic we are on a good path.

DDV post game comments about having no depth on the roster were telling. More proof this will be a total rebuild. I predict Sisley goes mid major. Someone could throw some $$ at Dorn too.

I have bounced out of the doom and gloom stage. I will say no way he could possibly get someone worse than Reed Bailey this time around. That is a positive. Unfortunately you hate to see players pushed out but unless some guys accept a paycheck I think we have a few exit the program. I’m not going to speculate names but I could see atleast 2-3. Then bring in 5 from the portal. We have to get some kind of direction this time. We have to see a plan.

So if we have no depth, there is nobody on the roster that can step in next year.  That’s what depth does, right?  Spend a year or two as a backup and then move into the starting rotation.   Assuming you keep a few of the development/project pieces, you’re looking at 10 new players.  3 freshmen, means 7 portal players.  
 

I guess I hope he doesn’t panic and bring in a head case or two.

Regardless, of what NIL money is spent on the male IU basketball program …

#1 priority….Just want NIL money to keep nucleus and incoming IU Ladies players and to purchase 2 difference makers.

I have not posted on here in a long time as i kind of turned into a football guy. Honestly did not see many games but saw the last four or five.. But its pretty clear something will need to change next year big time to make the tourney. I suppose nil can help maybe but I assume we had more nil than northwestern and still got blown out.

In hindsight, this team would have benefitted from Luke Goode getting another year of eligibility. He would have started in front of Dorn and Goode would have provided some much-needed leadership to this roster.  This team had no one to take charge when needed.  Goode would have also given us a reliable third scorer.

I agree that we'll have 2-3 players exit.  I think you can easily "Crean" players you want to leave by just lowering their NIL and spending the savings on players to play in front of them.  Guys will get the hint and move on.

You have to wonder if we've shown enough this year to attract the players we need to compete?  We have money and playing time but what else is attractive at this point?  If they are only coming for a paycheck, then we get the comments about glad to be here and not eating Dominoes pizza anymore...

I think we can find guys who are about winning at the right price. They will buy in to the system as long as they're 1) being paid a fair market rate 2) believe the system will help them get to the next level.

On that criteria, I think between Wilkerson and Javon Small DDV can make the case for a top portal guard. I think the screaming obvious need for a C probably helps with the second point - a huge hole for someone to fill. A featured role and a big paycheck should be attractive.

Staff just has to prioritize the right targets and do the scouting / due diligence behind that.
