Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Just won't seem the same without the Franimal roaming the Iowa bench. Hawkeyes (12-4) (2-3) and 0-3 in true road games so maybe that will continue on Saturday. Hawkeyes average 79 ppg with a +17 margin shooting 51% FG and 37% on 3s. They average 32 rpg with just a +3 margin which hopefully works to our advantage. They turn it over 10/game vs. their opponents 15/game. They have just one double digit scorer in Bennett Stirtz at 17.6 ppg. Cam Manyawu at 4.7, Tavion Bank at 4.6 and Alvaro Folgueiras at 4.1 are their leading rebounders. Folgueiras and Cooper Koch both at 42% are their leading 3-point shooters followed by Stirtz at 39% who is their highest volume 3-point shooter. Stirtz averages 35 min./game on the court. Next two highest on the team play 25 min./game. Trivia note - Cooper Koch at one time held an IU offer. A winnable game but will we? Radio Live Stats mamasa 1 Quote

Worst case scenario it turns into a 3pt shooting contest which we should win at home. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote
Kentuckysucks Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Should win. Both teams equally matched but we're at home. Lose and the season is definitely over although it probably already is. HoosierHoopster and FortWayneHoosier 2 Quote

68Hoosier Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I watch and still follow Bball but man it has been harder this year with all the excitement of the football team. Who would have thought we would still be talking about IU football in mid-January. Anway hoping they can pull this one out and start building some Momentum on this team. Iowa just played a hard fought game against Purdue at Purdue. they shot 48 % from 3 (12 of 25) and lost by 7. Seems to me this was a game of free throws purdue made 19 of 22 vs. Iowas 6 for 10. We are gonna need to make every free throw, and hit our shots from 3 and take advantage of them not having any one super athletic and not any one taller than us, so we can get to the rim. This is the game to win. BannerVille, 68Hoosier, HoosierHoopster and 1 other 4 Quote

HoosierHoopster Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I'd bank on a high scoring, shooting game. It should be fairly evenly matched but at home and coming after 2 losses this is one our guys need to double down and get the W at home. Just win. FortWayneHoosier 1 Quote

One of the big differences is McCollum likes to play slow. Iowa is one of the slowest teams in the nation, although not close to be as slow as Drake was last year. IU is pretty average in tempo. In fact, for all the talk in the offseason, Woodys teams actually played slightly more uptempo. But I get the feeling Devries teams would like to run if they can, as they did early on against lesser competition. IU probably needs to try and keep the pace up in this game to tilt things in their favor. Quote

About 10-15 games in, the rock starts to slide, and before we know it, we're back at the bottom of the hill. With Prometheus, once the liver was gone, it was game over. Quote

Like each new season. I like the Sisyphus analogy too. Quote

I think IU is around 160th in tempo, slower than I thought they’d play, haven’t looked at what Woody’s teams were at Quote
