This guy posted his film study on a Miami forum, but I don't think he is a homer. It's a nice look at Bain and Mesidor in particular. I continue to have faith in our coaches and players to see these same things and be ready to counter them.

There is a movement underway.

He should just move out to the West Coast so the game ends at a reasonable hour. As long as your work hours are a little flexible, it's a nice perk.

IU Athletics invites IU students, alumni, and Hoosier fans to gather at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Monday, January 19, for IU’s official watch party as Coach Curt Cignetti’s IU Football team battles the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

All attendees will need a free digital ticket for admission, which can be secured HERE. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. All seating is general admission and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The game will be broadcast live on each of the four screens on the arena’s center-hung scoreboard, and IU Athletics will distribute 10,000 commemorative rally towels to fans as they enter the arena.

“We’re excited to offer an opportunity for those who aren’t able to make the trip to Miami to share this experience with fellow Hoosier fans,” said IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson. “As will be the case at Hard Rock Stadium, I know that the atmosphere inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Monday night will be electric.”

Standard game-day policies, including the clear bag policy, will be in effect for the watch party. Concession stands and the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall IU Team Store will also be open beginning at 6 p.m.

Normally I would attend this. But my friend group has only come together the last 2 games

And that’s some good juju that I can’t risk changing

This is probably the biggest game of my lifetime. I think I'd put it just above the 2002 natty game. I think just because we are 15-0 and had been the worst program in history and how great this team has been.

I have also never felt so calmly nervous in my life. It really hasn't reached me yet that this is even real. I seen the commercial for the game last night and it is incredibly difficult to register this actually happening.

Personally, I am hoping it's 21-0 after the 1st quarter and I can just sit back and relax the rest of the game.

I was in Atlanata in 2002 for the championship and again this past Friday for the Peach Bowl.  Both atmospheres were electric with IU fans everywhere pre-game but a lot of turtle fans in 2002.  The whole vibe last Friday was far superior to 2002.

I'll be in Miami and hoping for/expecting a favorable IU vs Miami fan ration and a Natty win!  Go Hoosiers!!!!!

Current Tickpick stats about the purchase locations for the game? 33% in Florida. 22% in Indiana.

Now I suppose there are a few IU fans in Florida, but i would expect the crowd to be 40-50% IU and 50-60% Miami.

I honestly expect 60/40 in IU's favor as the floor. Can't wait to see how that turns out!

This is some Math I made based on the assumption theres more IU Grads in Florida than Miami grads in Indiana.  And that our Alumni base is 4x the size of Miami

image.thumb.png.da6c0f1ae058e4fde743bdfb1aadd771.png

Now theres some other assumptions that could be altered that i didn't make or factor in...yet

*What if your average Indiana fan is more likely to buy a ticket than you average Miami fan.

*With the larger alumni and donor base are Indiana's allotment winners more affluent and thus less likely to sell on the open market.  Clearly Oregon's fans sold theirs to make a quick buck

* So for me, I am going to be conservative and say that Indiana fans will be at worst Equally interested in tickets as Miami fans.  Which tells me our floor is 54% of the stadium.

You did not include that:

  • Miami fans will pay a few thousand less than IU fans because of no travel or lodging expenses.
  • Miami fans won't even need to miss a work day to be at the game.
  • Miami students can easily get to and more easily afford the game. Their parents can already afford the $90k annual cost of Miami.
  • We have many more alums, but Miami students and alums have a higher per capita income.
  • There are also a ton, A TON of very wealthy people in South Florida that will be there solely because it's a marquee event. They will lean toward rooting for Miami.

All that having been said, I would expect the crowd to be relatively split -- between 55/45 for one or the other team, which for a true road game would be fantastic.

I think I included those.  They are just baked into the assumption that on average the fans will be equally likely to go.

Could very well be wrong about that. But I just can’t get over the fact that they have had a good team the last two years but have had issues with empty seats.

Equivalent seats on the IU side were more expensive on the secondary market than on the Oregon side which led me to believe that IU would have a much bigger crowd, which we did (although I still didn’t expect 90-95% IU).

Right now equivalent Miami side seats are more expensive than IU indicating a strong Miami demand. I think it’s going to be close to 50/50. I’m thinking of selling one of my well used (abused) kidneys to get in.  Can’t believe how low inventory is and how expensive tickets are.
