Lebowski Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Same as the previous big games, IUFB's run game and D will be the reason we win or lose this game. str8baller, ALASKA HOOSIER and FortWayneHoosier 3 Quote

Stuhoo Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Oregon is overwhelmingly a man-press defense. Very different than OSU or Bama. In our first game against them we Waffle Housed them to death, but Becker wan't really even a thing yet. And EJ faded badly on Oregon's pick six - it was a terrible route finish that led to a disaster. Man to man press coverage leads to single coverage somewhere. Expecting a big game from whichever poison Oregon picks. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Jeff Flabjohns Posted January 5 Posted January 5 The line has moved from -4.5 down to 3.5. Don’t love that ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Likely because of that man/press tendency, we dominated the first game statistically. 326 yards of offense , 23 first downs to 14 for Oregon, seven minutes more posession. Their other option is to play more zone packages, but that's not their go to strength. The only two categories we were lacking in was third downs (5-14), which was in large part caused by a far and away season high of eight penalties for 45 yards. Five of those were false starts and one was a delay of game. In other words; really loud road stadium problems. This will be a quasi-home game; pretty damn sure that we won't have anywhere near that penalty problem. AZ Hoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote
HoosierFan1994 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Going to the Peach Bowl! Cannot wait for Friday! I feel very good about this game. A few questions for those of you who know ATL.. We are staying near the baseball stadium. Should get to the hotel around 3:00 in Atlanta. As soon as we check in we are planning on taking the MARTA to the game. Do you recomend taking an Uber to the Station from our hotel? Or will there be plenty of parking? I'd rather avoid downtown parking. J34 and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

I don’t have to guard against complacency so personally I’m not that worried about this game. We physically beat them to a pulp in their house before we really even got into a groove and now we get them in what will be an atmospheric home game. We lived in Moore’s ear hole and they couldn’t run the ball to save their lives in October. If they think that will get any easier with their OC 90% consumed with rebuilding the Cayuts, well, good luck to ‘em. Hoosiers by 14. Home Jersey, ALASKA HOOSIER and Jeff Flabjohns 3 Quote

Them running the ball was the one (relatively) weak spot for us the first time around. If you take away the sack losses they ran for 108 on 21 carries. They gave up on the run the first time against us. If the game is challenging it'll likely be because they don't give up on the run this time. str8baller and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Our Ds best 4 game stretch was the last 4 games. Giving up less than a TD per game. The fact Alabama didn’t run that much means Oregon didn’t really get to see how many of the adjustments we made for Daley going out. And our offense is clicking. I think Cooper going down is the only reason we didn’t find an end zone at least once more against OSU. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Davison for 26 is doing some heavy lifting in their YPC. If Stein was smart (which…even Oregon fans would tell you he isn’t the world’s brightest play caller, hence abandoning the run which I remain unworried about) he’d lean on their tempo package. That’s about the only thing they do that worries me. ALASKA HOOSIER and Stuhoo 2 Quote
