We can talk about missing on McCollum, which is true, but we have to acknowledge the ineptitude by IU admin for keeping Woody while Dusty was on the market. We have to acknowledge ineptness of hiring Woody, who was all by all measures untenable by all programs NBA/CBB alike. We can acknowledge the massive whiff on Archie. And if you want to go further into history, what are we doing with Mike Davis? I could keep going with absolute stupidity but I will hold it. IU administration is literally bottom tier. Without Bob Knight, IUBB is a bottom feeder

I was mainly skeptical about big man depth but talked myself into believing A) no way the staff could miss so badly on Bailey B) they must fit his offensive system well enough that I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. 
Clearly there's a reason almost all of these guys started in lower ranks. We didn't hit on nearly as many as we missed. It's going to be tough to build on anything with as many seniors as we have too. Only really Dorn and Sisley as returning contributors so far. Not a lot (if any) help on the way in the freshman class.
I love IUBB but tonight DDV and his team seriously disappointed me in the second half. Can feel the apathy about the rest of the season at least until football season is over. But now I am doubting that year 2 will even be much if any better. And that is sad. 

Been there for a while. Didn’t need this loss to see it. Saw it before the season started.

How do we win transfer portal recruitments with what we have to sell? Gotta overspend to win, when the program results don’t speak for themselves. And we don’t have the funds to overspend on enough guys. It’s a tangled mess we lie in. But this has been by thoughts for a while. Was hoping for a Cinderella season. Clear now, ain’t gonna happen.

Your off-season assessment has been correct. We hold onto tradition and a faint IU brand strength that in reality is not there. We don’t have the pockets, presence, or success to be who we think we should be. For the first time in my life it has occurred to me that IU is average at best as a program

I don't know how many more of these 3 or 4 year stretches of mediocrity I have in me. I was relieved when Woody was gone, but now I think we missed again and will have to wait out the inevitable. Not giving up on DeVries, I want him to succeed, but he inherited a real mess, and he's basically going to have to do the same thing next year that he did this year, build a new team from scratch!

Cig didn’t get the crazy purse until he proved to Dolson he could coach.  
 

DeVries didn’t get the purse yet.  And he had a friendly buyout. 
 

Dolson is evaluating if he can coach.  He’s failing that evaluation. But I don’t think Dolson has a 3-4 year timeframe in mind if winning doesn’t show promise

I think the Woody hire is when it set in with me. NIL rejuvenated my enthusiasm because Indiana was never crooked enough to dance with the best. NIL changed that. But Woody got the benefits of that. Ugh. Then you get the chance to make a REAL splash in the NIL era. You hire DeVries. I mean, I guess that’s ok. Maybe. Not a splash but it can be ok. Then he builds this roster with “Indiana resources”. Mind blown.

I’m really enjoying football thank goodness.

I'm hoping someone just really ticks him off or makes his life hell while he's there. Not because I'm bitter. But because we need the right opportunity to absolutely gravel at his feet. I am not above begging.

If you want to be the best, you can't be afraid of making enemies. IU was terrified of what the media would say about them if they got rid of Woodson, and before that, Archie. That stuff is for losers. For decades now, we've had losers in charge.
