My 2 biggest roster worries.

1. keeping Khobie Martin.

2. keeping Lynch? from Texas.

Those would sting.

And Becker with these two…

It would be foolish for him to go anywhere

As fans, of course, we think it would be foolish.  But he has a national championship ring, so if some school offered him an outrageous amount of money  to play closer to home and is a reasonably good team…he might not think it’s foolish.  I don’t know him, so I’m not going to try and guess what motivates him…at this time.

Of course, kids can be motivated by whatever they want. But to leave a coaching staff that proven they can develop players—and therefore, their future earnings potential—far better than any other coaching staff in the country, is indeed objectively foolish.

That’s a fair opinion.

You are correct in that us fans obviously have a hard time seeing both sides.

But why leave a coaching staff that is going to get you to the NFL and going to have you the most ready for a long successful career?

I’m not disagreeing with you.  As for why a player might leave, I gave you a few possibilities.  My point is that we don’t know what’s inside a player’s mind or what might motivate him to leave.  You say leaving is foolish.  That’s a perfectly okay opinion to have.

Your take is correct too.

Regardless, I think we will be okay with Cubans recent generosity lol.

I also agree with the sentiment that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence.  But young people jump at or are attracted to perceived better opportunities all the time.

Rumors other teams trying to poach him with $$$

Don't mean to derail this thread, but what are the rules about tampering? Seeing the posts about coaches and agents contacting "signed" kids, and then stuff like this - "rumors ... trying to poach"... how much "contact" is ok before it becomes "tampering"? What are the rules? Are there any, really?

The rules are different than the reality.

The reality is that anything and everything goes.

Yeah, that seems to be the case.

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but some portal announcements could be waiting until after tomorrow's celebration and avoid any backlash at that event.

On the other hand, could someone be waiting to announce they’re coming back at the celebration?

There is no rule on tampering.  Mainly because there is no organization, like the NFL, to enforce it.

The best you have is maybe a contract lawsuit based on tortious interference.  But that is a stretch.
