Class of '66 Old Fart Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 Finland fell to 3-2 in Group B as it was pounded by Germany 91-61. Miikka did not play. No idea why. Next game is Saturday with the opponent still to be determined. Quote
Demo Posted September 13 Posted September 13 https://x.com/pointmadebball/status/1966534525791482008 Muurinen doing Muurinen things. This isn’t Ristic playing U19, Jokic and Doncic played this event. Watched parts of a couple of those games and a couple of AZ Compass games from last year. That kid has legit #1 overall pick talent level. Been thinking a lot about Muurinen vs Allmond lately. Really interesting philosophical question. Really like Allmond. He’s gonna be a very good multi-year college player. Top 2 option eventually. Also seems like a good teammate and a good kid. Winning player. But Muurinen, wow, the stuff he can do. But he’s a 1 year kid and that’s it and do you like where you are enough to take a 1 and done lottery talent over a multi-year foundational piece? 1 other thing on Muurinen, that kid’s an a$$hole. He spends all game, every game, running his mouth. And not just at the opposition, teammates, coaches, refs, name it. He said something to 1 of his teammates in 1 of the Finland games and if that was practice that guy would’ve punched him. He was not happy. But most guys seemed to ignore it so maybe it’s not a big deal. Doubt it matters ‘cause they aren’t gonna have their choice and I’m sure they’d be happy with either, but it is a fun thought experiment. I’d be inclined to prefer Allmond, but, man, if Muurinen goes somewhere and gives them 18/8 and they make an Elite 8 run or something, yeesh. Home Jersey and BtownStrength 2 Quote

Exactly the kind of kid (if you can call him a kid) that could instantly up IU into a punch you in the mouth EE - highlight reel type team that would springboard IU going forward. Would love to see that kind of legit smashmouth talent at IU again. Think junior Vic kind of highlights. Would be outstanding Demo 1 Quote

Would be outstanding I struggle with the 1 year kids unless they’re Flagg or Peterson and physically ready to be the best player on a team with NC aspirations. I don’t think Muurinen is that yet, but, man, at some point he’s got a chance to be either a matchup nightmare perimeter playmaking 4 or an almost unguardable Franz Wagner-type giant wing. Just not sure that’s next year. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote
mike vannice Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Think we can do without $$holes. Would take Allmond over Muurinen all day long. Also wondering if it is either/ or on Thompson/Allmond or do we take both? Quote

I love, love the upside with his size, skillset, experience and moxy. Love the attitude! Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Is Anthony Thompson a real possibility? Is he more of a 3? He doesn’t seem like a recruitment we will. Thinking OSU or Michigan. Quote

Thinking OSU or Michigan. On3 contributors seem to think it's between us and Michigan, and Jamie Shaw said he hears about us the most frequently in regard to Thompson. Staff clearly putting in work with him. He was the first player visited when Devries was hired. Went 3 deep for him last week I believe. Demo, BtownStrength, WayneFleekHoosier and 4 others 7 Quote

Thinking OSU or Michigan. Would think so if for no other reason than the shear amount of time that they have and continue to put into him. They put more eyes on him than any other kid this summer. I love him. Combo forward who can really stroke it with a great frame and the athleticism is on the come. Watched maybe 4 of his Western Reserve games and he flashes literally everything you want. The only thing with him is he’s so young. Might be wrong but I don’t think he’s even turned 17 yet or maybe he just did. HoosierHoopster, J34, WayneFleekHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

dwtaylor1055 Posted September 15 Posted September 15 This kid can play - as someone mentioned above referring to Luka and Jokic playing in the same tournament, this tournament he was in is for the big dogs. This kid would do wonders for any team. I just hope those wonders are for IU. Go get em Adams and company! HoosierHoopster and J34 2 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted September 18 Posted September 18 I don't think he will. He's going to the highest bidderWhile I agree it most likely won’t be Michigan, Michigan has rallied around Dusty and their NIL has skyrocketed. Landeborg is being paid incredibly. Was probably the best transfer in the market. Dusty and Michigan are right under the top 3. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Demo Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Won’t return to AZ Compass and is apparently exploring pro options, per Givony. A few accounts are suggesting he’s signing with Partizan, but I can’t find an announcement that sounds fully credible. Home Jersey and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote

Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Never was really on mine, but he certainly got Adams a $hitload of frequent flyer miles. I assume he’s just trying to meet the criterion for entering the ‘26 draft which would explain establishing himself as a foreign Pro rather than classing up to play in college. Can’t blame him. Even in a crazy loaded draft his window is probably 3-6 range. If you can do that you do that, even if in ‘27 he might be in play at 1. Quote
