Interesting that we all assumed Mcasland was going to Texas. But now that’s off the table, and it seems Texas had no interest in waiting. So if he’s interested in moving on from Texas Tech, it would’ve seemed there was a small opportunity there. I’m guessing IU didn’t reach out at all.

This isn’t an anti coach Double D post. Just an interesting development with Miller moving on to UT.

?

who is this ‘we’ that assumed McCasland would go to Texas?

and the truth is if he isn’t willing to leave Texas tech for Texas, he wasn’t going to leave for Indiana.  He’s a guy who is happy in Texas.

I get why UT could land on Miller, I suppose, if they wanted a guy who’s run a really high profile program and gets that. But, man, it feels like they overvalued that piece and there are definitely better coaches, McCasland being 1 of them.

On one hand, it's a meh hire by Texas. On the other hand, screw Texas.

You can search the thread. I have confidence in you.

He’ll be exiting TT. Just a matter of where and when.

Maybe not. Texas Tech has deep booster pockets. They just spent a lot on football for next season and they have funds for basketball too. If he leaves Texas Tech it won’t be for NIL reasons. Someone will have to give him an offer he can’t refuse.

They have to. They’re in West Texas a second rate football conference. How that translates into basketball spending, we’ll see. SMU could bury IU in basketball spending but they’re not going to.

We’re gonna find out in the next couple years. Think of how the basketball salaries are doubling. Then go look at Ohio states $20mil football roster last year and double that. Basketball is going to start getting squeezed places, especially non SEC and BIG schools. Maybe TT is the exception.

If Maryland ends up with Beard, I’ll be an unhappy camper.

Supposedly Buzz Williams is planning to reach out for the job

I haven’t followed the saga. Why would Williard want out of there so bad but two other gainfully employed coaches want to go there? I guess I can see Beard, but it seems like a nearly lateral move for someone like Buzz.
