Sorry you took offense, because I think you were just passing along what you heard. It's not a criticism of you, just an objective analysis of the information people are passing along. 

Again, though, I don't find this plausible. No one mentioned McCollum as being on the short list back in January. The Intel was always Brad 1, Dusty 2. And then literally DeVries wasn't mentioned until a few days ago.

Any source claiming that Brad backed out again at the last minute, and now claiming they knew it was him, McCollum, and DeVries all along, is clearly not reliable. This search was buttoned up tighter than Ft Knox.

Edit: You were always transparent during the search that the info you were getting could be wrong. I'm not sure why you are getting angry now that someone is observing that the info you said may be unreliable was, in fact, unreliable.

This is important imo, wonder if DeVries gets to “select” or Dolson gets to make this hire.  Surprised it’s not talked about more, but I’m a little more concerned about DeVries’s ability to pull players than if we’d hired a big name.  Yes, we have resources, but this year was another great example of having a poorly constructed roster, even if we did outspend to get some highly sought after guys…

I'm tired of talking about but he never backed out. He never said yes. He was undecided until we needed an answer and he said no. 

We got our third choice and he very well could be a home run.

We are hearing from non-IU sources that Dolson has been in communication with DeVries for weeks, if not since the Battle for Atlantis. That strikes me as much more credible than the idea that Brad was in the bag until Sunday. 

I don't see how anyone at this point wouldn't be questioning their sources re Brad, after the way the last two searches turned out. Whatever info people were getting clearly wasn't reliable.

You are well within your right to push back but just because the search firm has him on a list doesn't mean he was choice number one. on march 6th DeVries didnt think he was getting the job, wonder why that was. You have backups. You assuming brad's character from what you see in public doesn't change the fact that on Sunday night brad told scott he wouldn't in fact be taking the job

 We have a group of people who are insatiable.In fact I knew what several reactions would be before they posted. I don't know how this will turn out but I'm glad the search is over and will back the coach and hope for great results.

 

 

There are some people throwing a fit because it wasn't their preferred guy or they believe Scott Dolson should be able to pull the jedi mind trick on coaches and get them to accept the Indiana job. There are a couple folks who wanted Chris Beard so bad because they view it as a part of the culture war. They need to be on the winning side or else. These are not people that will discuss and argue in good faith. They are taking the whole situation very personally. 

I have my doubts on Coach Devries, but you bet as an Indiana alum and fan I'll back him. We don't have a coach with no experience (Mike Davis), or who will repeatedly break rules (Sampson), or who has strange personality quirks and swings (Tom Crean), or one without a personality that can't handle the big stage (Archie Miller) or one who was given the job because he played for Bob Knight (Mike Woodson.) We have a normal, heavily experienced, grinder of a college basketball coach with a son who can shoot the lights out. That sounds like the start of something good related to Indiana basketball to me. Let the man cook before we decide if the meal is any good.

I'm not assuming things about Brad's character simply from what I've seen in public. 

I have no reason to believe you know what DeVries was thinking on March 6th, because your sources are clearly not reliable.
