Definitely not the best player on our roster - but his point about him being under the radar from a fan perspective is certainly true. Has the IU fanbase ever been less excited about a McDonald's All-American?

@68Hoosier no really. Tucker, Ballo, Rice, Kanaan and now Goode--- this is the 5th one we've had that has basically and or literally been committed, but we are just waiting on it to become official.

We probably don’t want to get burnt on expectations.  I think it’s best to stay low key about any of them, IMO

He was a very late get so we don't know that much about his game + he wasn't an AAU circuit kid so less is known.  Throw in that he is VERY young for his class (won't turn 18 until June).  It's a perfect situation because it's a rare case where expectations can be tempered on a player that is very, very talented and he isn't going to be asked to do too much as a freshman.

Why Hemenway?  I would rather use that last scholarship on a freshman you can develop within your system

FWIW, Hemenway is an Indiana kid that can also flat out shoot the ball.  43% from three for his career at Clemson, 124 of 289.

It seems that the model of bringing in freshman to be your 12th or 13th guys is going to mostly go by the wayside in college basketball.  Odds of a team developing a kid and then him sticking around long enough to see the fruits of your labor simply aren't great.  Might be entering the days where if a kid can't immediately be in the rotation, they are going to have to play down a level (mid major instead of high, lower major instead of mid, D2 instead of low major).

Why not just count Newton or Cupps as the "last scholarship" and it works the same..

Newton is technically still a freshman next year since he will get a redshirt for last year.
