I guess I could maybe see that buuuuut... our in ability to get a Dreb and GO, consistently, was as detrimental as about anytbing offensively last year. Rice, Ballo, and Kanaan would rectify that issue QUICK. Off of that, I think MM gets more good shots, if we're functioning how we're suppose to. Jam and Demo 2 Quote

Id recommend the fanbase not villainize the bag dropping from Indiana but instead be happy we can win bag drops now. its been going on for eternity in college basketball and for the most part those dropping the biggest bags are winning the most games. I can pretty much assure you if we stop dropping bags the fanbase will have a lot more to worry about than we already do. id recommend embracing it and just leaving it out of the equation. It’s been a part of high level recruiting forever and now it just expands into mid level recruiting as well. Be happy we can compete in that for now and cross your fingers the staff uses its salary cap wisely. You, Sir, have got it. The only difference between now and 40 years ago is that every school’s in the game now and there are market forces in play. There needs to be some regulatory pieces implemented on the unrestrained transfers and I don’t love what’s inevitably gonna happen to mid-majors, but this feels better to me. UConn exposed the hell out of them. Rice is a fantastic pick up. You can still think we need more shooting. But getting a building block player, 1st team all conference and freshman of the year... I'll take that talent and bet on him to have good improvement next year That’s a good point. I think im being too negative on Rice. You’re right, with only Gallo and a rehabbed Newton, we don’t have any other dynamic ball handlers/defenders. lillurk and Home Jersey 2 Quote

It’s incredible what modern basketball (spacing) can provide to a team. I personally don’t like the Ballo / Malik fit on offense. But if Malik can step outside and play a bit out there this season, that’s interesting. But as I mentioned, Rice instead of Johnson should be an upgrade when you’re rolling with a lineup of Rice/Trey/Mack/Tucker/MR. That’s assuming these guys can hit the 3 consistently and key words - more frequently. Stuhoo 1 Quote

As Cig says, you're looking for multiplication, rather than addition. Yup. I'd say they are targeting that player you described in Hickman. If they can land him, we'd really be cooking then. Quote

Oh, don’t get me wrong, that kid addresses a lot of needs and makes you better and I’m down. But I just know there’ll be some game where there up 1 under 30secs and they can’t get him subbed and all 5 kids on the other team are fouling him simultaneously and I’m going to be sitting chanting 1.2 mil over and over. Hoosierfanyuh Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 I love Conwell as much as anyone. But i think having Carlyle + Hickman > Just Conwell Pure speculation but Rice and Carlyle are boys and I think KC is one of the reason rice was inclined to come to IU. Theres no way you get all 4 though having Hickman and gallo as your guards off the bench (could be KC too ig) would be amazing. Gotta close on Hickman today. dwtaylor1055, WayneFleekHoosier, Home Jersey and 4 others 7 Quote
dwtaylor1055 Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Rice, Kanaan, Hickman and Ballo would be a haul. You add everything that IU needs at the moment : rebounding, three point shooting, dynamic ball handlers, toughness and scoring. Hoosierinbham, lillurk, Hoosierfanyuh and 2 others 5 Quote

Tucker was a 5-star, one and done player going to the G-league. Unless money is his only priority, I can't see him coming to a losing team that missed the Tournament without being promised significant minutes or a starting role. I'm sure that Cupps was told his minutes would be reduced from this year, but I would have to assume he was told 4-5 minutes per half at least. If not, why would he return? Leal was a solid contributor defensively during our 5 game win streak. I have to believe that Leal was offered similar minutes to return as well. A player can negotiate roles/minutes all they want. But they need to produce. If Tucker (or anyone) plays well enough to get minutes, fine. But if he doesn’t, he should sit. Now, if Woodson wants to risk his job giving minutes to non-producing players, that’s on him. But I doubt even Woodson is going to play someone just because he was “promised” minutes. Quote

Sure I’m glad IU has NIL money but man this is bad overall for the college game and needs fixing soon. Woodson hasn’t had a guard duo combine for 20 points in a single season yet. I can’t help you if you don’t understand what adding dynamic shot makers to this roster means. Whatever you say pal. Quote

He shot .228 against P5 opponents, even just .291 if you remove the 0 for 22. After November against opponents not named Prarie View, Utah Tech, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Rhode Island, Miss St, he shot just.239 the remainder of the year. Haven't seen him play a lick, so can't make a fair judgement, but those trying to explain away his poor 3pt shooting by freshman wall or except for... are being disingenuous. Go look at his highlight reel -- they all go in. Home Jersey, iu eyedoc, hoopsta007 and 2 others 1 4 Quote
