Every team needs a player like Cupps. Someone who other players respect and listen to. Obviously, as a freshman he hadn't earned his stripes yet. I fully believe Gabe will grow into this kind of role, and we'll be happy he's a Hoosier.

I see him as a pesky Aaron Craft type next year thru his senior year

I would think the staff would take it into account if a player has a history of transfers and whether or not he made his teams better. Don't get me wrong, fit is important, and it's definitely preferable to get a guy in and meet with him, but we are absolutely terrible right now, we just came off a horrendous season, we need to upgrade our talent, and I would think the concerns you have would be included in how a potential portal pickup is evaluated, with or without meeting with him.

Aaron Craft is not in the portal and IU is not recruiting him. :-) Just messing with you.

Hopefully we find a PG in the portal who has IU interest who plays like that

There are now multiple ways to win these days.

UCONN’s three guards crushed PU’s guards.  One of their three guards is a one and done 5* freshman while the other two guards both arrived at UCONN via the portal. All three are projected to be drafted in the 1st or second round.

We have a thread with over a 1,000 pages criticizing Woody so deflecting criticism is laughable.  Unfortunately, we have a number of posters who just can't resist piling on him in almost every thread.  Contrary to what you or others may believe, we do have some followers that want the thread content to match the title of the thread.  They're interested in information on portal targets.

If i am following your list, this would leave us with two additional sports open.  I think we should fill those as well becuase of potential injury and not panning out.  For me I would still look at Walker, and try to get both of Payne and Williams to fill all the open spots.

Totally agree…..we need at least 2 bigs, one to start at the 5 and a backup for Reneau at the 4

To point 2 Banks, Gunn did not improve but Reneau did. Is that because of the staff or is that because the individual player put in the time to get better?

IMO, a staff can work with a player to help them improve, but if a player doesn't want to put in the work outside of the sessions with staff, they either won't improve or the improvement will be minimal.
