Heard Rabby talking and it was also related to time with staff.  During an official they get like 3 days but an unofficial visit is just a day.  I am sure he has seen campus but being able to see get a better feel for who the other coaches are, support staff, food, drop ceilings, weight room etc

+ team mates.  Get him acquainted with MM, Galloway, Reneau, etc.

Do you talk about nba and mlb player contracts too? When I talk sports I don’t think I’ve ever said don’t get a player bc they cost too much money. Or this player is only coming bc of the money. Kudos to any player getting paid. This is America, let capitalism reign as far as I’m concerned.

I’m a White Sox fan, MLB contracts are always talked about. How do you follow a pro sports team and not have a general idea of who is making what? Sox could never afford Ohtani…

So how much do you think he is getting paid?

It doesn't matter what I think he is getting paid (and I don't know anyways, just as you don't know)....has no bearing on the actual amount.  But I'm not the one making a declarative statement saying he made X dollars.

Ah, the old not answering a question by asking a question.  I wasn't the one taking a stand on whether Tucker is 'overrated'.

I watched him in the works out with the other All Americans and also the game, along with YouTube and evaluations done by others. He’s a nice player and I am happy to stand by my opinion that he should not start next year and if he is one of the top 3 scorers, IU won’t have a successful season. Now do you….

lol…. Of course I don’t the exact amount. The point was he came to IU because he got a LOT of money. Whatever the amount was, IU out bid other schools. If he didn’t get that money, he wasn’t coming to IU. Why do you care if people are saying $750000 or $500000 or $1 million? IU paid him to come.

So you used evaluations done by others to say he's overrated?  The evaluations done by others has him ranked 20th in the class.  Seems pretty contradictory.

I saw him in the McD scrimmage and saw about half of the McD game as well as watched him on youtube.....and I can tell you that seeing a player that little in no way qualifies me to say he is 'over rated'.  Sounds like you've seen him in exactly one half game more than I did and that amounted to about 6 minutes of court time in a game where guys are trying to get their own.

I also have not said a thing about where he will be in terms of scoring for this team.  I have no idea why you are even talking about that when it wasn't even the discussion.

Quoting you:  "IU paid him $750000….going to guess there weren’t many places willing do to that… "

So you said IU paid him $750,000, @Class of '66 Old Fart and I said you were throwing around a message board number and that you don't know the actual number.......You were challenged on the number you quoted as fact.  Not sure why you are upset about that when you are admitting it isn't fact.

Growing up in the SF Bay Area pre salary cap in the NFL, I knew the owner of the 49ers lost money every time they won a Super Bowl bc of the bonuses paid to the team. Ultimately it’s not my money. So I really don’t care. The Pacers are a mediocre franchise bc the owners won’t spend to win it all. My Warriors drafted Steph when other teams saw better value before him, lol. Then the owners spent a lot of money and are always over the cap and pay a tax to the owners who don’t spend. The results are championships. My SF GIANTS soent over the cap but we’re smart about it and invested heavily in pitching over a decade ago and won several World Series bc of it. So no salary caps mean very little to me and how much a player makes means nothing to me. I just want my teams to win. Michigan is the football program I’ve followed since I was 3 years old. NIL allowed them to pay 30 players above the scholarship limit to cover tuition to have more players than what scholarship limits allow (per Sam Webb 24/7 and WTKA radio host)

Also growing up in the Bay Area exposed me to Billy Bean and the Oakland A’s doing the money ball thing. But again they didn’t win it all and it’s not my money so what do I care. Teams are allowed to spend what they want. The more you spend the more I think an ownership group wants to win. The White Sox could pay for Ohtani if ownership wanted to spend it. But they didn’t. MLB isn’t a hard cap. See the Dodgers and Yankees etc pending well over the “cap”.

Wrong. He’ll be given the opportunity to earn it, get plenty of minutes, and get paid.

Opportunity and guarantee ARE two different things so maybe he won’t be a starter. Or maybe he will. Also, the G Leauge Unite or whatever could be considered the far end of the NBA bench so maybe he IS ok with not starting right away.

So, some here thought we'd get two commitments today?

Not really -- there was a poster on HSN apparently that thinks we have two 'in the bag'.  If they are the players we think he is referring to, to our knowledge they haven't visited IU yet that we know of.

Simply not true. You don’t think Mgbako developed over the year? TJD didn’t develop? Reneau from year 1 to 2? If you said they didn’t develop then you should check your motives for why you believe what you do. I’m saying this as someone who would have been 100% behind a change for someone like Bruce Pearl.

Woodrow seems well equipped to coach the 4 and 5. MM went from awful to, by the end of the year, about what was expected from the jump from a 5* recruit. That doesn't make him HC material that makes him a great special assistant.

I know there was a discussion of players progressions as three point shooters from freshman to sophomore year.  I tried to find freshman shooters at IU that shot a significant number of three point shots as a freshman at IU (50 or more attempts) but a low percentage (33 or below).  The ones in recent memory all improved, some dramatically.

First number is freshman percentage, second is sophomore.  Final number is improvemtn

Durham 28.6, 34.8, +6.2

Phinisee 31, 33.3, +2.3

Franklin 26.6, 42.4, +15.8

Hunter 30.2, 36.2 +6.0

Bates 29.8, 37.4, +7.6

Ferrell 30.3, 40, +9.7
