perception in the gutter

Talking heads that are doing an Indiana piece because our fan base produces clicks. And yes; they are often a good and knowledgable listen.

Perception in the gutter? Sure! That's what decades of generally substandard results can do for a program. There is an antidote though; a trend toward winning and player development.

And showing that he can recruit some high end talent.  I am hoping that he can show he can thrive and be an elite coach here given time.

Yep….  Need to do something to change the narrative. Branding is taking massive hits by not acting like the big boys.  This has been my message.  Momentum, branding, track record, off season wins matter.

A few weeks to see how much this staff has learned and cares.

Sounds like a couple of toxic IU fans to me.  :]

lol. It’s a Michigan state fan and the host on the right is a Michigan guy.  It they definitely sound like the cranky IU fans on the boards that’s for sure. And they took what Rabjohns “reported” out of context. He was asked in the chat last night and everyone knows until they are in the portal he isn’t going to give a name but gave the answer that got out.

NO NO NO NO.  NO, NO NO NO....NO!  Also, NO NO NO.

Two years at Northwestern, averaged 4 points per game, shot 37/31.

Jesus Christ dude . We’re talking about a 19-20 year old kid . Take a deep breath Go touch some grass . I’m not Ryan Carr’s assistant anything it’s just a free message board .

no idea why fell out of rotation though I think it’s pretty well established on the board the thoughts on Collins as a coach . Again I said in the post he’d definitely be a bench guy but he showed flashes as a freshman with multiple 20 point games was a great prep player in a tough conference in Indy .

Would a Multi year locale on your bench that could develop with a high ceiling not better than a couple of Eastern European clowns who saw even fewer min? My goodness .

I would have to do more than just touch some grass to think a below average bench player from Northwestern is going to add anything of value to IU's team.

He scored 20 points twice as a freshman.  He was five times more likely to score no points, which he did ten times his freshman year.

Seriously, I can't think of any player IU has gotten through the portal in the NIL era that would bring as little to the table as the player you are suggesting.  He's is almost certainly going to be a 'down transfer' -- transferring from the Big Ten to a mid to low major.

I'm looking forward to hearing the spin after IU inevitably signs a 20-something ranked transfer class.

It's not inevitable by any means. Last year's class was ranked #10 by 247 for example. Of course, it had the benefit of being a 12 man transfer class. Now we are fully staffed and need fewer players. Hopefully we only sign 6 or 7 players who are more talented in the portal this time around.

I really, really do not care what our transfer class is ranked, and that goes both ways:

  • If we get a highly ranked class like the last two years and they perform badly ... like the last two years? That's more sadness.
  • If we get a lower ranked class yet it kicks butt? Hooray and finally!

So no spin from me - looking for potential, for high-character kids, and for a range of necessary skills from whoever we get. Don't care if they are from major, mid, or small conferences. The proof of whether the evaluations were on point will be revealed next fall.
