I don't really think either should, tbh. I agree. lol .... you didn't read that post correctly if you think I was criticizing him, you saw the sentence or two right above it when I listed an example of his leadership, yes? I know Goode is a leader; it's evident, the poster, I guess, doesn't. I don't know that Goode will absolutely get his, just my gut says he will. CSP 1 Quote
hoosierbgh Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Leal certainly makes for a good Rorschach Test. Some look at his career and see an average to above player that was used poorly. Others have a much firmer connection to reality. All joking aside, I can't recall any other IU player that was so acclaimed by so many and has generated so much debate with so little apparent accomplishment to base it on. Every year it seems fans have a player or two we misunderstand, its been kind of nice to have Leal as one we misunderstand in a positive way for once. Home Jersey 1 Quote

Don’t see anybody showering Leal with a bunch of outlandish praise or claiming he’d be a difference maker. Just differences of opinion in how valuable he is as a defender and whether people want him as 12 or 13 on the roster. PartyintheVillas, RaceToTheTop and Stuhoo 1 2 Quote

I like what he did and feel his minutes were deserved but there were times when his not even looking at the basket hurt. Don't think he was avoiding it. But he was never going to force it. Wasn't his role. Quote

Goode played 3 years at a good program, played 20 mpg on an elite 8 team, and then joined the mess that was Mike Woodson’s basketball program. He probably didn’t know what he was getting himself into. Leal has been at IU for 5 unremarkable years. We have plenty of other guards. If you’re keeping one of them, keep Goode and then get a big with the other spot. I like Goode and hope he gets another year. Leal…don’t feel the same and don’t want anymore run it back bs. Goode needs to work on his handle and penetration game along with defense and Leal needs to work on selling Btown real estate. Mopladysman 1 Quote

DChoosier Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I am hoping Leal wins but only plays 5 or so games. That will allow him to participate in his third senior night, then receive a 7th year from the NCAA (because he only played in 5 games) followed by his fourth senior night. A record that might never be broken. Home Jersey and CSP 1 1 Quote

Understand the politics of it but Jesus if he is playing we suck. I don’t understand the logic of getting a guy that just doesn’t want to get a job over a developmental player. Goode I would like back as he played 20 mpg for an elite 8 team and his shooting would be a plus in DeVries system. BannerVille 1 Quote

But, like I said in the last post, every post, 11 games 2min per game... yeah seems about right. Quote

He complements the rest of the roster better, and he can keep the ball in front of him defensively. He's a more effective cutter, a better passer. Anything outside of shooting, he's better to a lot better than Goode, IMO. Quote

It’s only adding a 12 or 13 to the roster if we can’t land someone better than the 1-11 we currently have. Ideally we’d add a 7 or 8 (or better, of course). And if we’re not adding a 7 or 8, I’d rather add a freshman 12 or 13 who could develop into a 1-8 rather than a sixth year senior one. BannerVille and Home Jersey 2 Quote
