Leal would be a plus defender (probably best on the team), which some people are concerned about.  I don't see a ton of playing time available for him, but he could play spot minutes when we have weaker defenders out there around him.  (would rather have a depth big, but if DeVries doesn't see one he likes, then so be it)

People not wanting a guy who shot 44% from three in B10 play last year is crazy to me.  Goode off the bench is a great weapon to have.

Well, I was hoping Tyme would slowly fade away after losing almost all of his sources with the near complete turnover of the IUBB staff.  He probably did lose a lot of sources, but he hasn't gone away yet... and I guess he still has Leal.  I scrolled his timeline -- honestly, with his boy Mike gone and fewer connections, he's not as bad (though he is still plenty bad).

SDB is much more quiet since CDD was hired, which is great.  His sources are probably gone, especially if he was a former Woody player or closely linked to one like we think.

With CDD here and his quiet/tight-lipped approach (replacing Woody's narrative spreading regime), it seems the noise around the program is, not surprisingly, significantly reduced.  And that's so great.  Quiet and boring with the only news being about bball is very good stuff and the sign of a healthy program.  Long may this last.

For his career and every individual season of it he’s over 60%. Not going to say he’s a good FT shooter, but maybe he can aim for 80%.

Making the tournament is probably his floor expectation this year.  We will need to raise that floor when we put together better teams.  But Momentum is a son of an gun and I've seen what happens to other coaches when they lose momentum.  Recruiting falls off, then their title of coach falls off.  Critical to get the fanbase behind you in year 1 these days because it CAN be done.  The resources are supposedly there to help make that happen.  I'm extra anxious because a great first year like Michigan/Louisville had has catapulted them and we can try to hope to recreate that.

I wouldn’t be thrilled.  He’s a Woody guy, and I don’t really want him around all the new guys telling them about his view of our “fans” or what they did in previous seasons (it wasn’t good).  He would be the only player on the roster that has been here a long time, and the new guys will listen to what he says and his experiences — I find that very concerning.

If CDD wants him on the team, okay fine, but be careful coach.  And yea I know he can defend.  I’d also much rather develop a player with multiple years of eligibility.

Goode is easier to accept because he learned the right way at Illinois… and he can shoot.

Absolutely zero interest in seeing Leal back on the team. Let’s not keep guys who take money to bash the fans. And that’s before you get into the fact that he doesn’t fill any positions of need at all.

He's a Bloomington native who committed to Archie and stuck it out for 5 seasons while essentially riding the bench for 4.5 years before proving to be a pretty solid player.

He's as Hoosier as it gets. Laughable take.

Sorry, I have not been following this thread as religiously as some. How in the world did we get to discussing Leal? Dude's already played five seasons. Who's next -- Al Durham?

Since no one has laid out the math, as far as I can tell his first season is free for COVID, and his 3rd season he played only 11 games and had some injury issues, so the idea would be to get that one back.

Leal is a 100% (and then some) yes for me. 

• Doesn't expect to necessarily play.
• Will defend and not get nervous if/when he plays.
• One of the few truly positive culture influences of the past few years. Works his @$$ off.
• Plays for IU, not money bag or a pro career.
• Eats up minimal to none of the NIL budget.
• Someone on the team that actually already has a relationship with boosters, the university, and the community. If we don't want a bunch of mercenaries, it'd be damn nice to actually have a player that knows where Mother Bear's and Buffalouie's are.
• He's a very bright young guy. You think he didn't understand the reality of Woody's real limitations? Yeesh; of course he did. Far better than anyone on this board. Better than anyone in university administration. Hell, him and Gallo understood better than anyone else on the team.

Luke Goode is more likely to log significant minutes, but Anthony Leal would be an excellent addition.

Same complaint was levied at Enright, who’s good for about 2/3 of 118 in three years and as a sophomore was over 70%. Not Ray Allen from the line but we can’t all be.

Also has appeared to know the scheme and situation every night even from the bench. He may not want to ever coach, idk, but it wouldn’t shock me.
