Transfer Portal w IU Interest

I was always impressed by Federiko of TTU when I watched them this past season. It was surprising to see him in the portal, he seemed to be quite a favorite of the team and fans.

He certainly looks the part of a rim protector.

IU currently at fifth in transfer portal and I would guess we'll be in that neighborhood when all is said and done.  That said, IU did need to be in that neighborhood since we didn't retain any players.  Offensively, the haul looks very good.  Perimeter shooting looks excellent.  Conerway helps defensively and I believe that bringing in a defensive center will help as well.

I think you're right. Nationally, feels like a top 40 team - so, let's say, 8/9 seed.

I don’t feel comfortable projecting any team as top half, lower third, whatever at this point. We still have a lot of the roster to fill out and at least one more rotation big guy. Until we see them on the court I don’t think we can tell where they will stack up relative to any other team. Especially after the past couple seasons, I’ve got next to no preseason expectations. Just want to see good basketball again and think we will. Hopefully we get a foreign trip finalized so there’s a preview before the season.

I wonder if his family emigrated from Sudan to Finland. In Sudan, I guess it's common for people (I think the oldest son) to have the same first and last name. I went to school with some of the Duany kids, who are from Sudan. Duany Duany was a year ahead of me and ended up playing ball at Wisconsin. The whole family played basketball and IU got none of them because the family didn't like how much Knight cursed.

Well I'm certain, somewhere, his family isn't native to Finland.

Believe his family is South Sudanese and he’s a Finnish citizen

I hope they are right. This guy is a near perfect fit.  He has pretty good hands, great screen and roll player (which fits perfectly when the defense is worried about our shooters), doesn't need the ball in his hand other than to finish, good rebounder, shot blocker, and good athlete....

And he would pair nicely with Leo Curtis as our 2 bigs. add a rugged power forward type and our frontcourt is set.

Any updates on Mr. Curtis? Are we showing interest, setting up a visit?

Apparently has some real trouble catching the ball, but once he does he's a good finisher. Really good offensive rebounder - keeps plays alive and back taps. Wants to avoid having the ball in hands at all costs, and would need to be pulled off of the offensive end with a late game lead because the dude is a stone cold disaster from the line.

Rabbys been hinting that the agents are harping on the next few days are going to be very active portal wise. Have to enter by EOD tomorrow but schools have til the 24th to report it or something like that. He mentioned bigs in general too.

I'm concerned about the big man situation. I knew they would be at a premium nut right now I can't think of anyone off the top of my head that could be a late portal addition. DD aurelt has an idea of what he wants to do there.

I don’t want a big that has a high usage rate so at this point I’m paying attention as there’s a need for a shot blocker/rebounder/dunker, but not yet concerned. We shall see.
